Abstract:

A process is disclosed for die-casting aluminum alloy A365. 2, or like alloys having high aluminum and low iron content, which have hitherto not been formed into parts in die-casting processes because of undesirable soldering of the cast part to the steel die. In the disclosed process the molten aluminum alloy containing a maximum of 0. 12 percent iron and at least 90 percent aluminum is injected under pressure into a die through a gate at an injection rate which is approximately 55 to 93 cubic inch per second. When the rate of injection of the aluminum alloy into the die is in this range, there is no sticking or soldering of the die-cast part to the steel walls of the die.

Abstract:

One may enhance the soil release properties of textile fabrics, particularly polyester containing fabrics, by laundering same with a stable aqueous detergent composition having enhanced soil release properties and consisting essentially of: (a) 0. 2 to 20. 0% of an ethylene terephthalate/polyethylene oxide terephthalate copolymer having a ETP/PEOTP ratio of 1:1 to 9:1 and a total molecular weight from about 9,000 to 60,000, the molecular weight of the polyethylene oxide terephthalate being from about 500 to about 6,000; (b) 5 to 40% of an anionic detergent selected from the group consisting of linear benzene sulfonates having from 10 to 73 carbon atoms, alkane sulfonates having from 14 to 18 carbon atoms, alpha olefine sulfonates having from 14 to 18 carbon atoms, sulfosuccinates, and sulfonated alkyl diphenyloxides; (c) up to 40% of a nonionic detergent selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated linear alcohols, ethoxylated alkylphenols, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides and ethoxylated secondary alcohols; and (d) a buffer sufficient to maintain the pH of the aqueous composition within the range of 5. 0 to 9.

Abstract:

The method of washing articles in an automatic dishwasher includes the steps: (a) providing a first volume of a first treating component for use in the dishwasher, (b) providing a second volume of a second treating component in close transported association with the first volume, but isolated therefrom, for presentation at the time of use of said first component, (c) one of said first and second components consisting essentially of nonionic surfactant, and the other of said first and second components consisting essentially of chlorine release agent, and (d) separating some of said second component from said close association with the first component and employing same in the dishwasher at the time of adding said first component to the dishwasher.

Abstract:

The jugular veins of chickens and other poultry are rapidly cut with precision and uniformity as birds are conveyed in succession past a rotary cutting knife. The necks of the birds are stretched at the cutting station by the coordinated action of upper camming bars acting on the bodies of the birds and lower spaced guide bars between which the necks travel longitudinally with the heads of the birds constrained below the guide bars and sliding on a spring-loaded pivoted pan structure which assures stabilization of the heads at the moment of cutting the jugular vein regardless of variations in head size and weight. The heads are presented to the knife with better vertical orientation to insure better engagement of the knife with the jugular vein. The necks are propelled through the cutting station by pusher elements attached in spaced relationship to an endless conveyor element immediately above the constraining parallel guide bars.
