Abstract:
A motor control system and method implements non-trapezoidal motor control and meets established “fail passive” regulatory guidelines. In particular, a system and method of controlling a multi-phase brushless motor that includes a multi-pole permanent magnet rotor, and an individual, electrically isolated stator winding associated with each phase that includes a first terminal and a second terminal. A motor command is supplied to a motor control. The motor control is configured such that the first terminal of each stator winding is selectively coupled to a power source at a first duty cycle, and the second terminal of each stator winding is selectively coupled to a power source asynchronously with the first terminal of each stator winding at a second duty cycle.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for determining angular position in rotating machines. A repeating sequence of segments are arranged in a track disposed at a diameter around a shaft of a rotor that rotates about an axis. A sensor is positioned to face the track and is fixed relative to the stator. The track and the sensor face to each other, which may be in directions that are parallel to the axis. The sensor generates an output that is decoupled from the diameter of the track and is related to the repeating sequence of segments.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for a controlled motor assembly for use in a reaction wheel assembly (RWA). The controlled motor assembly is optimized to work with an AC motor, and includes a filter configured to inhibit electrical and electromagnetic noise from being coupled between a spacecraft power bus and a power bus internal to the RWA, as well as an arrangement of power switch elements providing a path for motor phase currents associated with the AC motor. A digital control system is implemented to receive a command input, position sensor feedback and to retrieve parameters associated with the AC motor from a memory device. Based on the command input, the position sensor feedback and the parameters associated with the AC motor, the digital control system controls activation for the arrangement of power switch elements, and generates data output.
Systems And Methods For Using Error Correction And Pipelining Techniques For An Access Triggered Computer Architecture
- Morris Plains NJ, US Jon Douglas Gilreath - Peoria AZ, US Gary Warnica - Phoenix AZ, US Paul D. Kammann - Plymouth MN, US Ronald E. Strong - Phoenix AZ, US
A method for improving performance of an access triggered architecture for a computer implemented application is provided. The method first executes typical operations of the access triggered architecture according to an execution time, wherein the typical operations comprise: obtaining a dataset and an instruction set; and using the instruction set to transmit the dataset to a functional block associated with an operation, wherein the functional block performs the operation using the dataset to generate a revised dataset. The method further creates a pipeline of the typical operations to reduce the execution time of the typical operations, to create a reduced execution time; and executes the typical operations according to the reduced execution time, using the pipeline.
