Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing an independent display system for a computer aided detection (CAD) system that analyzes medical images. The independent display system comprises a screen to display a medical image including any marked regions of interest and a plurality of icons to interact with the screen. For one embodiment, the screen is a touch screen, such that the independent display system does not require a keyboard or cursor controller.

Abstract:
A system and method of computer aided analysis of medical images and detection of malignant lesions is described. Medical images obtained from multiple modalities are analyzed. Morphological features as well as temporal, i. e. , kinetics features, are combined to compute a consolidated assessment of a possible lesion detected in the medical images. The system includes at least one kinetics module, which is capable of extracting kinetics features from a time sequence of MRI images or MRS data taken after administering a contrast enhancement agent to a patient. The consolidated assessment is presented to a user for confirmation or modification.

Abstract:
A computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) method and system provide image annotation information that can include an assessment of the probability, likelihood or predictive value of the CAD-detected suspected abnormalities as an additional aid to the radiologist. More specifically, probability values, in numerical form and/or analog form, are added to the locational markers of the CAD-detected suspected abnormalities. The task of a physician using a CAD system is believed to be made easier by displaying two different markers representing different probability thresholds. An additional threshold can be used to display “extra view markers” as an additional aid or guide to the radiologic technician to take extra views of a patient before the patient is released or discharged. A control device is added to allow the user to select and vary the probability threshold for the display of locational markers.

Abstract:
A method for segmenting a vessel from an image data that includes accessing the image data from which the vessel is segmented through a user display interface. A first seed point is then received from a user, the first seed point placed by the user on a first location on the image data. A second seed point is further received from the user, the second seed point placed by the user on a second location on the image data. The method further includes calculating a centerline for the vessel to be segmented, the centerline beginning at the first location and finishing at the second location as indicated by the first and the second seed points, respectively; calculating borders of the vessel to be segmented based on the centerline; and displaying an output of the vessel to be segmented using the centerline and the borders of the vessel, wherein the calculating the centerline comprises utilizing a minimum cost dual front propagation method that incrementally accumulates local vessel measures to determine a global optimal cost path and form the centerline.
