Abstract:
An electric machine with a rotor having internal permanent magnets. Each rotor pole includes at least one central magnet slot with a permanent magnet disposed therein and first and second outer magnet slots each with a permanent magnet disposed therein. The rotor poles each define a radial centerline. The first and second outer magnet slots are positioned on opposite circumferential sides of the radial centerline and are at least partially positioned radially outwardly of a radially outermost edge of the at least one central magnet slot. The first and second outer magnet slots each define a tapered material bridge disposed between the outer magnet slot and a radially outer perimeter of the rotor core. Each of the tapered material bridges defines a variable radial thickness with the variable radial thickness increasing as the circumferential distance from the radial centerline of the pole increases.

International Classification:
H02K 1/27
Abstract:
An electric machine having a rotor with a rotor core formed out of magnetically permeable material and defines a plurality of poles. Each pole includes a plurality of discrete axially extending magnet slots with at least one permanent magnet in each magnet slot. Each pole has a radial centerline and includes a plurality of voids defined by the rotor core. For each pole the magnet slots include at least one central magnet slot and two outer magnet slots, the outer magnet slot are positioned on opposite circumferential sides of the radial centerline of the pole and are at least partially positioned radially outwardly of a radially outermost edge of the at least one central magnet slot. Each of the plurality of voids is spaced from each of the magnet slots and positioned circumferentially between the outer magnet slots and radially outwardly of the at least one central magnet slot.
Electric Machine With Variable Cross Section Stator Windings

International Classification:
H02K 3/12 H02K 3/28
Abstract:
An electric machine including a rotor operably coupled with a stator having a plurality of stator windings. Each stator winding defines has a plurality of axially extending segments disposed within the stator slots and a plurality of end turn segments. At least one first axially extending segment defining a first cross sectional area and at least two second axially extending segments defining a smaller second cross sectional area are disposed in each of the stator slots. At least one of the plurality of end turn segments conductively couples a single first axially extending segment in a first one of the plurality of slots to at least two second axially extending segments in a second one of the plurality of slots. In some embodiments, the larger first axially extending segments are all disposed radially outwardly of the smaller second axially extending segments. The windings may be formed using hairpin conductors.
Electric Machine With Stator Having Phase Shift Windings
- Auburn Hills MI, US Seong Taek Lee - Noblesville IN, US
International Classification:
H02K 3/28 H02K 3/12
Abstract:
A multi-phase electric machine having plurality of windings are mounted on the stator core that define a plurality of phases wherein, for each phase, the windings include at least two parallel windings, each winding comprising a pair of continuous wires which are connected in series. For each pole, the parallel windings fill one or more central slots and two outer slots. Each winding fills each central slot twice the number of times that the winding fills each outer slot to thereby define a slot fill ratio of 2:1 between central slots and outer slots and wherein each wire of the wire pair forming a winding fills the slots in a ratio that differs from the slot fill ratio. Each of the parallel windings include a phase shift end loop that shift the windings from one outer slot to the other outer slot.
