Abstract:

A periodontal surgical instrument is disclosed which includes a motor. A rotary member is mounted for movement at a center of rotation of the rotary member. A shaft couples the output of the motor to the center of rotation of the rotary member. A coupling structure is secured to the rotary member at a point displaced from its center of rotation. A follower member is coupled to the coupling structure. A track member is coupled to the follower member and configured to allow the follower member to move in a closed loop path. A tool secured to the follower member. A method of use is also described for this periodontal surgical instrument for procedures where extraction is desired.

Abstract:

A dental implant system includes a dental implant having an external thread for threading into bone and an internal thread for attachment of a prosthesis. The internal thread has a plurality of notches which accept a complimentary shaped insertion tool. The insertion tool is used to transport the dental implant to the surgical field and to insert the dental implant into the bone.

Abstract:

An endosseous implant system is provided having an implant body and an abutment. The implant body has a connection cavity at a top end of the implant body, the connection cavity having an open mouth of non-circular shape. The abutment has a primary cavity and a projection oriented along a longitudinal axis of the abutment, the projection protruding outward away from the primary cavity and forming an anti-rotational junction with the connection cavity of the implant.

Abstract:

A UCLA castable abutment and impression taking component are combined into one unit. The shape of the plastic distal end of the UCLA abutment is fabricated so that it will have one or more undercuts as well as one or more anti-rotation features to allow it to be used while taking an impression of the abutment's relationship to the implant using the indirect transfer method. The combination of an anti-rotation and undercut feature allow the UCLA abutment to be gripped by the impression. The unit includes a bore to allow a fixation screw to fixate the unit to either an implant or implant analog.
