  • US Patent:
    7197668, Mar 27, 2007
  • Filed:
    Sep 16, 2002
  • Appl. No.:
    10/245759
  • Inventors:
Pansy Hui - San Jose CA, US
Cheng Chia Chu - Cupertino CA, US
ShuHung Alexander Mak - Fremont CA, US
  • Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
  • International Classification:
    G06F 11/00
  • US Classification:
    714 39, 714 43
  • Abstract:
A method for debugging failure nodes of a network connection by providing node debugging information for a failure node in a connection failure message of a signaling protocol. The connection failure message, which indicates a failed network connection, is forwarded from the failure node to the source node of the failed connection. The node debugging information is carried in a generic application transport information element of the PNNI signaling RELEASE message, providing an efficient debugging means for network failure nodes.

  • Inventors:
Lakshminarayanan Venkataraman - Sunnyvale CA, US
ShuHung Alexander Mak - Fremont CA, US
Cheng Chia Chu - Cupertino CA, US
  • Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
  • International Classification:
    H04L 12/28
  • US Classification:
    3703952, 3703953, 370389, 370400
  • Abstract:
A method for clearing a plural number of connections from each of two connected nodes by clearing the first connection from the first node, generating a single first message from the first node to the second node identifying the connections, clearing the connections from the second node in response to the receipt of the first message, and generating a second message from the second node to the first node identifying the connections cleared by the second node in response to the second node receiving the first message. Furthermore, a node having circuits for generating and interpreting each of the two messages, and maintaining a database of connection status. Further, each of the two message types that signal a clearing of a plurality of inter-nodal connections.
  • Asynchronous Transfer Mode System And Method To Verify A Connection

  • US Patent:
    7042881, May 9, 2006
  • Filed:
    Jun 29, 2001
  • Appl. No.:
    09/895656
  • Inventors:
Sandeep Dhar - Sunnyvale CA, US
Dean Cheng - Fremont CA, US
ShuHung Alexander Mak - Fremont CA, US
  • Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
  • International Classification:
    H04L 12/56
  • US Classification:
    3703952
  • Abstract:
A method, and apparatus to transmit an ATM data message from a source node to a destination node, and reflect at least a portion of the data back t where it is compared to the transmitted data. The destination node includes a reflection circuit service located at a specific selector code address, and the destination node listens for a transmission to the specific selector code for reflecting the portion of received data in a subsequent data message for the connection. The source node addresses a setup message to the destination node containing the specific selector code, and compares the transmitted message with the received message. The source node also includes a method and apparatus to send alternatively trace and path trace information as an attachment to a transmitted message, receive the reflected information element, and pass hop data contained within the information element to a user interface for presentation to a user.
