  • Abstract:
The subject application is directed to a network document processing device discovery system and method. Multicast address data and local identification data are first stored in an associated storage. A probe message is then received from an associated processing device via an associated network. The probe message corresponds to stored multicast address data. Probe identification data associated with the probe message is then tested with the local identification data. Device data, representing a capability of a document processing device, is then selectively communicated to the processing device according to an output of the testing.

  • System And Method For Generating Location Based Content

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20070291299, Dec 20, 2007
  • Filed:
    Jun 14, 2006
  • Appl. No.:
    11/452764
  • Inventors:
Fabio M. Gava - Ladera Ranch CA, US
Alok Mathur - Lake Forest CA, US
Silvy J. Wilson - Rancho Santa Margarita CA, US
  • International Classification:
    G06F 3/12
  • US Classification:
    358 115
  • Abstract:
The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating location based content via a document processing device. Location data representing the location of the document processing device is first stored in an associated storage, along with data representing services associated with the document processing device. A user is first prompted, via an associated user-interface, to select a desired service, which is associated with a specific network service provider. The network address of each service provider is stored in the data storage in correlation with the service to which the provider is associated. The user then selects a desired service, whereupon the device generates a query including the device location data and submits the query to the service provider corresponding to the selected service. The device then receives a response from the service provider and outputs the response to the user.
  • System And Method For Generating Documents From Multiple Image Overlays

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20080294973, Nov 27, 2008
  • Filed:
    May 21, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/751412
  • Inventors:
Mohammad SULEIMAN - Trabuco Canyon CA, US
Silvy Wilson - Rancho Santa Margarita CA, US
William Su - Riverside CA, US
  • International Classification:
    G06F 17/00
  • US Classification:
    715202
  • Abstract:
The subject application is directed to a system and method for construction of layered documents, such as advertisements, educational materials, graphic designs, and the like. In multiple image data files generated, for example, by scanning multiple document pages, a user is capable of selecting a color in a particular page, or region of a page, to be eliminated. A user is further capable of selecting a tint level associated with a corresponding image data file, such as, for example, 0%, 50%, and the like. Once desired color transparency data and tint level data are selected, a document processing device generates a composite image by superimposition of each of the image data files. The composite image is generated in accordance with the overlay order designated by the user. A tangible, humanly cognizable document is then generated by the document processing device.
  • System And Method For Transportable Software Operation Of Document Processing Devices

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20090067008, Mar 12, 2009
  • Filed:
    Sep 6, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/851168
  • Inventors:
Marianne L. Kodimer - Huntington Beach CA, US
Silvy J. Wilson - Rancho Santa Margarita CA, US
  • International Classification:
    H04N 1/00
  • US Classification:
    358402
  • Abstract:
The subject application is directed to a system and method for transportable software operation of document processing devices. A portable data storage device is first received, whereupon a bi-directional data communication link is established with the portable data storage device. Operational data associated with the operation of a document processing device is then communicated from the portable data storage device. Operation of the document processing device is then commenced in concert with the operational data received from the portable data storage device. The operation of the document processing device is terminated upon removal of the portable data storage device.
  • System And Method For Print Proofing For Fee-Based Document Output Devices

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20090070276, Mar 12, 2009
  • Filed:
    Sep 6, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/851143
  • Inventors:
Marianne L. Kodimer - Huntington Beach CA, US
Silvy J. Wilson - Rancho Santa Margarita CA, US
  • International Classification:
    G06F 17/00
  • US Classification:
    705400
  • Abstract:
The subject application is directed to a print proofing system and method for fee-based document output devices. Electronic document data is first received of a selected electronic document for which tangible output is desired. A user is prompted for input of proof output data representing an instruction to generate a single, tangible copy of the electronic document. Proof output instruction data is received representing a desired sample tangible output corresponding to the electronic document. Output is then commenced of the copy corresponding to the received electronic document. Proof acceptability data is received representing the acceptability of the single, tangible copy of the electronic document data. The receipt of proof output instruction data is then disabled upon receipt of proof acceptability data indicating disapproval of the single, tangible copy. Upon receipt of approval of the single copy, fee data is generated associated with the tangible output of the received electronic document.

The subject application is directed to a system and method for creating seasonally adjusted tangible outputs via an associated kiosk. Template data associated with seasonal tangible output templates is first stored in a data storage associated with the kiosk. Each of the templates includes code data corresponding to an associated season. Date data is then received and tested against the code data. As a result of the testing of the received date data against the code data, a subset of the plurality of tangible output templates is isolated. Display data is then generated on an associated display in accordance with the isolated subset of tangible output templates.
