  • US Classification:
    296 2612, 296 2613, 296172, 296173, 296176, 296165
  • Abstract:
A linkage mechanism provides for the extension and retraction of rooms in recreational vehicles while maximizing the space inside the vehicle. Braced parallel linkage members are applied between a vehicle frame member and an expandable room member. A hydraulic cylinder or other force assist element may be used to drive a slotted glide arm which, in turn, causes the braced parallelogram linkage to shift, thus pulling or pushing the room frame member relative to the vehicle.

  • US Patent:
    6679541, Jan 20, 2004
  • Filed:
    Jan 15, 2003
  • Appl. No.:
    10/248379
  • Inventors:
Paul Edmund Hanser - Tipton IA
    Stacy Hanser - Davenport IA
  • Assignee:
    HWH Corporation - Moscow IA
  • International Classification:
    B60P 334
  • US Classification:
    296171, 296172, 296175, 296 2612, 296 2614
  • Abstract:
A push-pull drive chain mechanism and scissors linkage assembly powered by a hydraulic cylinder to affect the coordinated, linear movement of an expandable room in a recreational vehicle. The drive chain moves generally vertically along a first structural member, such as a vehicle frame member, as the hydraulic cylinder extends or retracts to move the expandable room relative to the vehicle frame. The drive chain is pivotally connected at the proper place on the scissors-type linkage assembly, the links that form the scissors extending and crossing for pivotal attachment to a structural member of the vehicle body and a structural member of the expandable room. The drive chain is constructed and guided to provide the required force for opening and closing the scissors assembly.

  • US Patent:
    6905154, Jun 14, 2005
  • Filed:
    May 18, 2004
  • Appl. No.:
    10/709623
  • Inventors:
Vincent Buls - Tipton IA, US
Stacy Hanser - Davenport IA, US
Paul Edmund Hanser - Tipton IA, US
  • Assignee:
    HWH Corporation - Moscow IA
  • International Classification:
    B60P003/34
  • US Classification:
    296 2613, 296175
  • Abstract:
A push-pull drive chain mechanism and scissors linkage assembly and lifter assembly all powered by hydraulic cylinders to affect the coordinated, linear movement of an expandable room in a recreational vehicle. The drive chain moves generally vertically along a first structural member, such as a vehicle frame member, and then horizontally as the hydraulic cylinders extend or retract to move the expandable room relative to the vehicle frame. The lifter assembly assists in raising and lowering the expandable room so that when the room is extended, the floor of the expandable room will be substantially flush with the floor of the vehicle.
  • Hydraulic Slidable Storage For A Recreational Vehicle

    view source
  • US Patent:
    7621587, Nov 24, 2009
  • Filed:
    Aug 1, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/832447
  • Inventors:
Paul E. Hanser - Tipton IA, US
Stacy Hanser - Davenport IA, US
  • Assignee:
    HWH Corporation - Moscow IA
  • International Classification:
    B60R 5/04
  • US Classification:
    296156, 296 2612, 296 2613, 296 371, 296 376
  • Abstract:
A slidable storage tray adapted to be hydraulically actuated between a retracted position wherein the tray is nested inside a vehicle's storage compartment and an extended position wherein at least a portion of the tray is located outside of the vehicle's storage compartment. The slidable storage tray is dual directional so that it extends from either a first side or a second side of the vehicle. The hydraulic circuit comprises a first hydraulic cylinder and a second hydraulic cylinder. The rod of the first cylinder is attached to the vehicle/storage compartment frame and the rod of the second cylinder is attached to the slidable storage tray. The two hydraulic cylinders are attached together so their barrels cannot move relative to one another. The two hydraulic cylinders are facing the same direction so that their rods both extend in the same direction.

  • US Patent:
    57722706, Jun 30, 1998
  • Filed:
    Aug 4, 1995
  • Appl. No.:
    8/511477
  • Inventors:

  • Assignee:
    HWH Corporation - Moscow IA
  • International Classification:
    B60P 334
  • US Classification:
    296 26
  • Abstract:
An apparatus for extending and retracting one structure with respect to another which utilizes a pivoting mechanism rather than the standard linear mechanisms known in the art. The mechanism further utilizes a torsion bar connected between the distal ends of the actuator for synchronizing the movement of the actuators to prevent binding and twisting. A first embodiment utilizes a flat chain and a pair of circular guides to maintain the torsion bar in a horizontal plane, while a second embodiment of the invention utilizes a four-bar linkage system.

  • Filed:
    Mar 24, 1994
  • Appl. No.:
    8/217322
  • Inventors:

  • Abstract:
An apparatus for synchronizing the extension and retraction of linear actuators. A quadrilateral structure is formed by means of the support base, a pair of actuators, and a crossmember, with a sensor positioned so as to detect variations in the shape of the quadrilateral. The sensor functions in cooperation with the actuator control mechanism to vary power to the actuators in response to the changes in shape which occur due to slight variations in actuator speed of movement.
