  • US Patent:
    7256512, Aug 14, 2007
  • Filed:
    Apr 1, 2006
  • Appl. No.:
    11/308523
  • Inventors:
Stanley Marquiss - Plymouth CA, US
  • Assignee:
Marquiss Wind Power, Inc. - Folsom CA
  • International Classification:
    F03D 9/00
    F03D 7/00
    F03D 7/02
    H02P 9/04
    F03B 15/06
  • US Classification:
    290 55, 290 44, 415 41, 415 45, 415908
  • Abstract:
A wind powered variable area exit aperture electric generating system having configurable, adjustable duct side walls by which means the ratio between the intake cross-sectional aperture area and the exhaust cross-sectional aperture area may be varied for maximum air molecule flow through the duct, leading to ideal maximum electrical output for any given air mass input. The planar characteristic and angular dispersion of the mutually leading edge coupled extended flaps, and the regular square interior housing result in complementary internal vortices developed at the trailing edge of the planar architectural surfaces.
  • Integrated Panel Loudspeaker System Adapted To Be Mounted In A Vehicle

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20010012369, Aug 9, 2001
  • Filed:
    Nov 3, 1998
  • Appl. No.:
    09/185168
  • Inventors:
STANLEY L. MARQUISS - PLYMOUTH CA, US
  • International Classification:
    H04B001/00
  • US Classification:
    381/086000
  • Abstract:
An integrated panel loudspeaker system adapted to be mounted adjacent a roof of a vehicle is provided wherein time and phase coherent non-dispersive longitudinal waves are produced in a diaphragm of the system by a plurality of electromagnetic drive assemblies of the system so that the diaphragm radiates time coherent transverse waves within the vehicle with substantially the same wave forms as that of input signals to the drive assemblies. The system includes, in one embodiment, a panel formed of batting compressed and molded in a predetermined shape and having an elastic memory of the predetermined shape. The panel has a plurality of apertures formed therein in which the plurality of spaced electromagnetic drive assemblies are aligned. The diaphragm is a contour diaphragm for the panel wherein the diaphragm is adhesively secured to the panel with a resilient adhesive so that the diaphragm is critically damped. Preferably the diaphragm is formed from a thin sheet of non-ferrous metal such as aluminum.
  • Electro-Acoustic Planar Transducer

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43852106, May 24, 1983
  • Filed:
    Sep 19, 1980
  • Appl. No.:
    6/188757
  • Inventors:
Stanley L. Marquiss - Carmichael CA
  • Assignee:
    Electro-Magnetic Corporation - Carmichael CA
  • International Classification:
    H04R 718
    H04R 1102
  • US Classification:
    179114M
  • Abstract:
An electro-acoustic transducer using thin, lightweight, planar diaphragms driven by strategically located, coil-driven, high-energy, permanent magnets. A framework maintains the diaphragms in substantially co-planar relationship a predetermined distance from and parallel to a rear support wall. The diaphragms include at least one hinged woofer diaphragm and a foam-supported tweeter diaphragm. The small, high energy movable permanent magnets are attached to the rear surface of each movable diaphragm. Cooperating with each movable magnet is a respective, stationary electromagnetic coil with a crossover network directing the incoming signal to the appropriate coils, thereby placing the magnets and attached diaphragms into cooperating fore and aft motion. The frontal acoustical waves produced by each woofer constructively interfere to augment low frequency response. The tweeter construction provides wide frontal dispersion of high frequency acoustical waves.
  • Planar Loudspeaker System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47929782, Dec 20, 1988
  • Filed:
    Aug 28, 1987
  • Appl. No.:
    7/090738
  • Inventors:
Stanley L. Marquiss - Plymouth CA
  • International Classification:
    H04R 718
  • US Classification:
    381203
  • Abstract:
A planar loudspeaker system having an elongated and substantially planar enclosure, configured to house tweeter, midrange, and a pair of upper and lower woofer diaphragms in its median, longitudinal section. A pair of woofer labyrinths, acting as quarter-wave transmission lines, extends throughout the remainder of the enclosure's volume. The labyrinths vent the substantially in-phase backwaves forwardly, toward the listener, through a pair of shared ports in the mid-frontal region of the enclosure. An electro-magnetic drive unit, employing bar magnets, pole pieces and thin encapsulated moving coils, all of elongated and symmetrical configuration, is also disclosed. Three versions of the drive unit are shown, each being adapted to provide a distributive driving force to the planar diaphragms of the loudspeaker.
  • Noise Abatement Device

    view source
  • US Patent:
    58728538, Feb 16, 1999
  • Filed:
    Jun 26, 1996
  • Appl. No.:
    8/668323
  • Inventors:
Stanley Lynn Marquiss - Plymouth CA
  • International Classification:
    G01K 1116
    H04B 1500
  • US Classification:
    381 71
  • Abstract:
A device and method for minimizing noise particularly adjacent a source such as a highway. A plurality of transducers (10) are oriented in a specific alignment and driven in a sequence which sends corrective pressure waves so that the noise emanating from the source will be modified upon coaction with the corrective pressure waves emanating from each transducer (10). The transducers (10) themselves include at least one pair of diaphragms (60) that are adapted to move in a arc thereby sending a pulse out from the transducers (10).
