Abstract:
An apparatus for interfacing between a plurality of application programs and at least one display adapter having functions for supporting a display, the apparatus including first driver apparatus providing an interface from a first one of the application programs to functions of a display adapter, second driver apparatus providing an interface from a second one of the application programs to functions of the display adapter, and access apparatus, coupled to both driver apparatus and to the display adapter, for providing both driver apparatus common access to selected functions of said display adapter. In addition, a method of interfacing between a plurality of application programs and at least one display adapter having functions for supporting a display, the method including the steps of providing a first interface from a first one of the application programs to functions of a display adapter, providing a second interface from a second one of the application programs to functions of the display adapter, and providing common access from the first and second interfaces to selected functions of the display adapter.

Abstract:
Disclosed aspects manage a shared pool of configurable computing resources. A request to place an asset which has a set of threshold resource values is detected. A first arrangement for a set of dynamically-assigned resources is determined. The first arrangement includes a first assignment of at least a portion of the set of dynamically-assigned resources to a first host. The first host uses the first assignment to meet the set of threshold resource values. Accordingly, the first arrangement is established.

Abstract:
Disclosed aspects manage a shared pool of configurable computing resources. A set of resource assignment data is established. The set of resource assignment data indicates a first host of the shared pool of configurable computing resources includes a set of dynamically-assigned resources. An error event with respect to the first host is detected. In response to detecting the error event with respect to the first host, a determination is made to perform a resource action based on the set of resource assignment data. The resource action, which is related to the set of dynamically-assigned resources, is performed.

Abstract:
Techniques are provided for providing computing resources from a pool a plurality of networked computing systems to a consumer. The method includes determining that the consumer's resource usage exceeds a predetermined threshold. After a predetermined period of time, and upon determining that the consumer's resource usage continues to exceed the predetermined threshold, the method identifies one or more computing systems from the pool having capacity to host at least part of the amount of excess resource usage. The method further includes allocating resources on one or more computing systems selected from the identified computing systems to satisfy the amount of excess resource usage, and transferring at least the amount of excess resource usage to the selected one or more computing systems.
