Abstract:

A rotor assembly for a gas turbine engine operates with reduced circumferential rim stress. The rotor assembly includes a rotor including a plurality of rotor blades and a radially outer platform. The rotor blades extend radially outward from the platform. A root fillet extends circumferentially around each blade between the blades and platforms. The platforms include an outer surface including a plurality of indentations extending between adjacent rotor blades. Each indentation extends from a leading edge of the platform to a trailing edge of the platform with a depth that tapers to an approximate zero depth at the trailing edge.

Abstract:

In a method for treating an affected skin region of a patient having a skin disorder, a vasodilation composition is applied to an affected skin region of a patient, the affected skin region exhibiting a skin disorder characterized by at least one abnormal blood vessel, and the affected skin region is then treated so as to non-invasively disrupt tissue architecture, e. g. , by inducing ischemia, of the at least one abnormal blood vessel. A vasoconstriction composition can then be applied to the skin region to cause vasoconstriction of the at least one blood vessel in order to promote healing.

Abstract:

A method for assembling photographic processing systems of the type for advancing integral, self-processable film units to the exterior of a camera while simultaneously spreading a fluid processing composition in a uniformly thin layer between selected layers of a film unit. A number of processing rollers which comprise the system are provided with a partially textured surface by using an electric discharge machining process having predetermined conditions, and then a number of test processing systems are assembled with these rollers and other pieceparts randomly selected from lots of all other pieceparts which comprise the system. Characteristic film units are processed through the test processing systems, and the fluid layer thickness in each of these film units is afterwards measured and compared with a predetermined standard. If the combination of test system parts provides acceptable fluid layer thickness control performance, the remaining pieceparts of each lot are used in combination with rollers having the predetermined texturing to manufacture additional systems. If the test system performance is not acceptable, the electric discharge machining process conditions are adjusted by a predetermined amount which is sufficient to effect minor changes in fluid layer thickness control that can result in acceptable performance.
