Abstract:

In a method and system for automatically notifying a user when financial transactions (e.g., debit card transactions and credit card transactions) are carried out in association with the user's credit card or other financial account, each time a financial transaction is completed, a notification message is generated and transmitted to a user-designated terminal. Examples include transmitting e-mails, other text messages, or audio messages to the user's home computer terminal or mobile phone or other wireless unit. The notification message contains information identifying the user account and specifying the nature of the transaction, such as monetary amount, time of day and date, and where the transaction occurred. The notification is generated and transmitted substantially immediately after the transaction is completed. This way, a user is informed of each transaction separately and substantially contemporaneously with when the transaction is carried out, allowing users to intuitively assess the transaction from a time sense.

Abstract:

A shredder-compactor apparatus has a hopper for receiving refuse material to be processed and a compaction tube arranged to receive the refuse material from the hopper. A rotary auger screw extends along the hopper and through the compaction tube and coacts with a breaker bar located in the hopper to shred and tear the refuse material in response to rotation of the auger screw. As the auger screw rotates, the shredded refuse material is transported axially through the compaction tube and compacted therein. In the transition region between the hopper and compaction tube, the auger screw has a truncated screw section which is reduced in dimension compared to the remainder of the auger screw so as to facilitate entry of the shredded material into the compaction tube. The compaction tube has a set of wear plates removably mounted at circumferentially spaced intervals around its inner wall and the wear plates are formed of a material which is less hard than the auger screw to ensure that the wear plates themselves wear down rather than the auger screw thereby prolonging the life of the auger screw. A spring-loaded latch assembly is provided at the discharge end of the compaction tube to maintain the back-pressure of the compacted material within predetermined limits.

An electromagnetic machine includes a housing, an axle coupled to the housing in a rotatable fashion, a stator assembly disposed generally within the housing, the stator assembly including a stator plate and a stator bearing coupled to the axle such that the stator assembly is rotatable about the axle, a rotor assembly fixed to the axle and disposed generally within the housing and including a rotor housing that defines a circumferentially extending channel that is sized to receive a portion of the stator assembly therein; and a locking mechanism configured to selectively prevent and permit rotation of the stator assembly about the axle via the stator bearing. The housing can include an access window defined therein such that the stator assembly is accessible through the access window.
