A Lithium Ion battery cooling system for use in a hybrid vehicle comprises a plurality of self-contained liquid cooling modules, each cooling module including a closed and sealed container having an interior space. Each cooling module includes a battery assembly disposed within the interior space of the container and a plurality of battery cells having at least one fluid channel formed therebetween for receiving a fluid therein. A dielectric fluid is disposed within the at least one fluid channel. The dielectric fluid substantially immerses and is in contact with the battery assembly to heat and cool the battery assembly. A heating element is disposed within the interior space and heats the dielectric fluid. A cooling element is disposed within the interior space and cools the dielectric fluid.

Abstract:
A system for controlling airflow through an under-hood compartment of a vehicle body includes a stow-away air dam assembly disposed on the body and configured to control the airflow between the body and a road surface from outside the vehicle to the under-hood compartment. The air dam assembly includes a retractable portion and a drive shaft configured to shift the retractable portion between a stowed position and a deployed position. The retractable portion is set at a first height in the stowed position and at a second height in the deployed position, wherein the first height is greater than the second height relative to the road surface. The air dam assembly also includes an actuator configured to operate the driveshaft. The system additionally includes a controller configured to regulate the actuator. A vehicle employing the system is also disclosed.

Abstract:
This relates to a label applicator for applying labels to mold cavities of rotating mold units. The label applicator is fixed relative to moving mold units and includes an extensible fluid motor which carries a pick-up head or suction head for moving the suction head in a straight line direction and return. The extensible fluid motor is carried by a shaft for oscillation between a label pick-up position and a label deposit position. The extensible fluid motor is carried by a bracket which, in turn, is carried by a shaft of a rotary actuator which is constructed to oscillate between two fixed positions which are spaced apart a preselected angular distance. There is incorporated with the rotary actuator a decelerator for rapidly, yet smoothly, decelerating rotation of the bracket carrying the extensible fluid motor. Suitable sensor means are provided for timing the actuation of the label applicator in accordance with the position of a mold cavity into which a label is to be placed.
