Abstract:

The present invention provides systems and methods for enhancing the delivery and display of medical images over a network. Authorized users may access and view images by accessing a secure server and selecting images for viewing. Various characteristics of the image or images being viewed may be manipulated. Additionally, measuring devices, such as a goniometer, may be placed on an image to measure distances, angles and the like. In one embodiment, one or more templates, for example of medical devices, may be placed on an image and manipulated. In another embodiment, two or more users may view the same image simultaneously, while also viewing a template, measuring device, image manipulations and the like simultaneously. In yet another embodiment, two or more users may discuss one or more images via a discussion board.

Abstract:

A continuous passive motion leg exercise device for rehabilitation of knee motion, hip motion, and ankle motion after trauma or surgery is disclosed. The device includes an elongated base, a thigh support, a lower leg support pivotally connected to the thigh support, and a foot support pivotally connected to the lower leg support. The distal end of the lower leg support and foot support are mounted on a sliding bearing attached to the base. The thigh support is pivotally mounted to a thigh brace at one end. At the other end, the thigh brace engages a threaded drive screw extending from an enclosed motor assembly. The threaded drive screw is also enclosed except where the thigh brace extends through the enclosure. Movement of the thigh brace along the drive screw causes the thigh support, lower leg support, and foot support to move in a knee bending motion. The motor includes a motor cycling device which reverses rotation of the threaded screw.

Abstract:

An intramedullary fracture fixation device is provided which includes an intramedullary rod, a lag screw and a lag screw collar. The rod has a proximal end with a transverse bore extending therethrough. The lag screw has a distal end with coarse bone engaging thread elements and a proximal end with screw threads. When in use, the lag screw is substantially axially aligned with the transverse bore of the rod. The lag screw collar has an outer diameter sized to rotatably fit within the transverse bore of the rod. The collar also has an inner diameter and internal screw threads adapted to cooperate with the screw threads of the proximal end of the lag screw. The lag screw collar may have an increased outer diameter at one end thereof which is at least slightly larger than a diameter of the transverse bore of the rod. The device preferably includes a longitudinal bore which extends through the proximal end of the rod so as to open into the transverse bore. The longitudinal bore is preferably angularly offset with respect to a longitudinal axis of the proximal end of the rod.

A shoulder joint prosthesis system comprising a stem and a plurality of heads, the stem defining a head receiving surface lying at an angle of greater than zero and less than 40 degrees relative to the stem and each of the heads defining a generally spherical articulation surface having a radius of curvature and mounting means for mounting the head on the stem, the mounting means having an axis of rotation of the head, the axis of rotation and the radius of curvature lying at an angle of greater than zero and less than 40 degrees to each other is disclosed.
