A system and method of hierarchical monitoring for subordinate assessment is described. Generally, the system receives remotely sensed data about a user's physiology and contextual state, and extracts features that are related to the workload currently being experienced by a single subordinate and/or group of subordinates. The system builds workload indices based on levels of these features. The system uses statistical process control techniques in conjunction with the workload indices to identify suboptimal user states. Information regarding a particular subordinate or the group of subordinates may be presented in a variety of different ways. As a result, a superior can easily determine the condition of the one or more subordinates and make task adjustments to influence workload levels.

Abstract:
A system and method of efficiently and effectively triaging an image that may include one or more target entities. The image is divided into a plurality of individual image chips, and each image chip is successively displayed to a user for a presentation time period. Data are collected from the user at least while each image chip is being displayed. For each image chip, a probability that the image chip at least includes a target entity is assigned, based at least in part on the collected data. The image is then displayed with the assigned probabilities overlaid thereon.

Abstract:
A system and method of efficiently and effectively triaging an image that may include one or more target entities are provided. A target entity to be searched for in the image is specified. The image, or at least a selected portion of the image, is then divided into a plurality of individual image chips each having a chip size based on the specified target entity. Each image chip is then successively displayed for a presentation time period.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for setting policy goals and using the policy goals to assist in controlling a process or system are disclosed. The policy goals preferably codify some or all of an organization's policy goals for the operation of the process or system. The policy goals preferably express what an organization considers a good (or bad) solution and what level of goodness (or badness) the situation or solution incurs given a particular context. The operation of the process or system can then be evaluated using the predefined policy goals.

Abstract:
An automated system and method for monitoring and supporting and actor in an environment, such as a daily living environment. The system includes at least one sensor, at least one effector and a controller adapted to provide monitoring, situation assessment, response planning, and plan execution functions. In one preferred embodiment, the controller provides a layered architecture allowing multiple modules to interact and perform the desired monitoring and support functions.
Method And System For User Sensitive Pacing During Rapid Serial Visual Presentation
A method and system provide for user sensitive pacing in an image triage that is based on rapid serial visual presentation. The physical or cognitive state of a user is monitored during the image triage, and images are shown to the user at a predetermined image presentation rate. The image presentation rate is adjusted during the image triage in response to the physical state or cognitive state of the user. For example, the image presentation rate can be decreased to match a decreased capacity of the user to process images, or the image presentation rate can be increased to match an increased capacity of the user to process images. In addition, the showing of the images can be paused in response to inattention of the user. Further, one or more of the images can be resequenced for examination by the user if such images are missed because of eye blinks.

Abstract:
A system and method for assessing a functional or medical ability of an actor in a environment. The method includes providing a plurality of data sources in the environment. One or more of the data sources are designated as providing information relating to a functional or medical ability. Data from the designated data sources is retrieved and forms the basis of a functional or medical ability evaluation. In one embodiment, a plurality of baseline function categories are established, with information from one or more of the data sources being assigned to at least one of the baseline function categories.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for depicting avionics data anomalies in an aircraft. Time series data is received from the avionics data source, a future time is predicted when a first anomaly threshold will be crossed based on the time series data, and the future time when the first anomaly threshold will be crossed is depicted on a display device associated with the aircraft.
