Abstract:

An umbrella with a chamber for storage of material such as an enclosure canopeum of netting. Included are mechanisms for transport and interchange of various canopeums. By turning a crank handle, netting is transported from its storage chamber to the edge of the umbrella canopy, where it can be lowered to the ground. The canopeum will then shield those under the umbrella from incursions by agents such as insect pests. Turning the crank in the opposite direction transports the canopeum to its stowed and protected position within the chamber. Canopeum accouterments facilitate attachment, removal, and interchange of canopeums having varied compositions, textures, and surface details.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to an umbrella system, substantially comprising an umbrella with elements that include a hollow shaft, a cover, as well as a frame consisting of ribs and stretchers mounted on the exterior of the hollow shaft. When retracted, the cover is stowed inside the shaft. When deployed, the umbrella's cover is supported by ribs and stretchers as well as by the shaft. Ribs and stretchers slide along the hollow shaft's exterior as the invention's cover is deployed and retracted.This configuration of deployment elements is not seen in the prior art of umbrella construction. It allows use of accouterments that expand the invention's use and convenience.The umbrella may be constructed using materials having low coefficients of electrical conductivity such fiberglass, plastics, or composites, thereby reducing shock risks. The manner of the invention's construction also enhances its ability to resist damage due to excessive wind as well as unwanted transfer of moisture from its retracted cover.

Abstract:

This invention is an inexpensive beverage niche for a system to manage food and drink. Provided as a separate entity for attachment, this is a new concept. Affixed to a food tray or paper food boat, it helps secure a beverage container such as a beer tasting glass from sliding, tipping, and contacting with food also carried on the tray. The invention's attachable beverage niche facilitates carrying food and drink in one hand, while releasing the other hand from any obligation to continuously hold a drink container.

Abstract:

A system is provided for protective elements that include, but is not limited to, an umbrella having a complete double canopy with pleats, a medially expanding frame, and a moisture mitigation vessel. The frame's linkage system and expanding double canopy enable their combined covering structure to take a downwardly concave form when fully deployed. Rounded outer frame edges provide enhanced safety. When retracted around the umbrella's stick, frame and canopy assume the form of a three dimensional envelope tapered up and down from its mid-section, thereby concentrated at top and bottom by the stick. This configuration provides canopy and frame with improved ability to move in and out of the invention's stick mounted moisture mitigation vessel. With an internal liner of wicking material and multiple surface apertures, the vessel encourages controlled release of evaporated moisture from the enclosed canopy.

Abstract:
