Abstract:

A controller area network (CAN) controller unit has a message assembly buffer receiving a serial bitstream, a buffer memory coupled in parallel with said message assembly buffer, a CAN control unit coupled with the message assembly and the buffer memory, and at least one control register. The at least one control register can be programmed to cause the CAN control unit to store a message received in the message assembly register in at least a first and second mode, wherein in the first mode, control information and data payload of the received CAN message are stored in the buffer memory and in the second mode only the data payload of the CAN message is stored in the buffer memory.

A microcontroller has a random access memory, and a Controller Area Network (CAN) controller with a control unit receiving an assembled CAN message. The control unit generates a buffer descriptor table entry using the assembled CAN message and stores the buffer descriptor table entry in the random access memory, and the buffer descriptor table entry has at least a message identifier and load data from the CAN message and information of a following buffer descriptor table entry.

Abstract:

A modulated input signal is filtered to reduce noise. The state of the input signal controls the state of a switch. Depending upon its state, the switch connects one of two circuits to a gate. The gate receives the input signal and it passes or blocks the signal depending upon the state of the signal received from the switched circuits. When it is passing the input signal, the output of the gate is equivalent to the input signal. When it is blocking the input signal, the output of the gate is set to a default state. The default state is independent of the input signal. One of the switched circuits gradually modifies the signal provided by the gate to allow the input signal to pass through. The other switched circuit gradually modifies the signal provided to the gate to block the input signal.

Abstract:

An intelligent signal switch/detector is used in a wireless transponder device fabricated in an integrated circuit package so that dc offset bias need not be a factor in determining the no signal logic level to an input of a digital microcontroller. Direct current components from the transponder receiver amplifier are ignored and only the received alternating current signal information is passed on to a logic circuit to be processed. The intelligent signal switch/detector comprises a circuit such as a monostable which is triggered by a rising edge from an output of the transponder receiver amplifier. The edge triggered circuit then generates a pulse(s) that is input to the logic circuit. The width of the pulse may be adjusted for different applications. The intelligent signal switch/detector enables optimum sensitivity in the receive circuits without concern for any ambiguity in the logic level polarity to the logic circuit due to variations in the dc biasing of the high gain amplifier of the wireless transponder receiver.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method of increasing the sensitivity of a magnetic sensor embedded in a key fob used in passive keyless entry and identification systems. The sensitivity of the sensor is increased by magnetically coupling a pair of magnetic flux concentrators at opposite ends of the magnetic core of the sensor, which is surrounded by a helical conductive coil. Addition of the magnetic flux concentrators external to the coil effectively forces a larger window of magnetic flux through the coil than was possible without them. This increases the magnetic sensitivity of the coil as a sensor in a time varying magnetic field. In a key fob/passive keyless device this results in an increased range of operation.

A system has at least one bus, a central processing unit (CPU) coupled with the bus, a memory coupled with the bus, a direct memory access (DMA) controller having a plurality of DMA channels and operating independently from the CPU and being coupled with the bus, wherein for access to the bus the DMA controller is programmable in a first mode to have priority over the CPU and in a second mode in which at least one DMA channel of the DMA controller is suspended from accessing the bus.
