Abstract:

A drawer front system including an interchangeable front panel adapted to be detachably connected to the face of a drawer without requiring special skill or the use of tools. The interchangeable front panel is ideally selected from a variety of front panels having different aesthetics so that the ornamental appearance of the drawer front can be easily changed to correspond with a change in mood, home or office relocation, or living/working arrangement of a user. A pair of panel mounts (e.g., rails) project outwardly from the face of the drawer. A corresponding pair of mounting recesses (e.g., channels) are formed in the interchangeable front panel to slidably receive respective ones of the panel mounts, whereby the detachable front panel and the drawer face are disposed in face-to-face alignment with the front panel visible to passersby. A handle to which a pulling or pushing force is applied to open or close the drawer has a pair of hollow threaded posts that are mated to removable screw-threaded fasteners through the opposing detachable front panel and the face of the drawer so that the front panel and the drawer face are detachably connected together.

Abstract:

Articles of breakdown furniture (e.g., a desk and a TV stand) that can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled by a user without the need for traditional tools, in a relatively short time, and with minimal assistance. In its disassembled condition, the furniture is advantageously adapted to be packaged and transported in compact shipping containers. A removable top is detachably connected between a pair of opposing sides or legs by locking pins which slide through lock bodies affixed to the detachable top for receipt by respective pin holes formed in the sides. A back panel is connected between the pair of opposing sides by connectors which project from ends of the support panel for removable receipt by slotted brackets affixed to the sides. In the case of the desk, a removable pull-out drawer is located below the removable top to be slidably received by grooves formed along the sides. In the case of the TV stand, removable shelves which extend between the pair of opposing sides are detachably connected to shelf supports that are affixed to each of the sides and the back panel.

Abstract:

A coupler to be embedded in a first (e.g., flat) panel and an insert to be embedded in a second (e.g., flat) panel to be joined to the first panel during the assembly of an article, for example, of furniture. The coupler includes a coupler body, a cam bolt rotatable within the coupler body, a cam head carried by and rotatable with the cam bolt, and a lever extending from the cam bolt to a location outside the coupler body at which to receive a rotational pushing force. The insert has a hollow interior, a closed leading end extending laterally across the hollow interior, and a window formed in the closed leading end and communicating with the hollow interior. The cam head of the coupler is moved through the window in the closed leading end of the insert. A rotational force applied to the lever causes the cam bolt to rotate within the coupler body, which rotation is imparted to the cam head. The cam head is correspondingly rotated at the hollow interior of the insert so as to move out of alignment with the window in the closed leading end thereof to be relocated below the closed leading end. Accordingly, the coupler and the insert are connected in mating interlocking engagement with one another, whereby the first and second panels will be joined to one another without the use of tools or additional hardware fasteners.

Abstract:

A desktop insert to be installed at an opening formed in a desktop and in which can be stored stationery supplies, electronic devices or hanging files so as to provide for a better use and organization of desktop space. The desktop insert includes a removable storage tray that is suspended below the desktop for receipt of the stationery supplies or electronic devices. Wire routing openings are provided through the desktop insert to enable an electronic device in the storage tray to be connected to a computer seated on the desktop or to a source of power. When the storage tray is removed, one or more hanging files can be suspended from the desktop insert so as to lie below the desktop for receipt of a corresponding number of paper files, or the like.
