Abstract:

A method for comparing and selecting process control apparatus is disclosed. The method employs software, executed on a stand-alone computer device, or accessible through the web, to retrieve data specific to a given process control environment, and calculate the performance characteristics of multiple types of process control equipment capable of meeting the demands of the application. The performance characteristics of each type can be provided in graphical form, at the same time, to enable a potential consumer to readily discern the advantages and disadvantages of each type of process control apparatus. In one embodiment, a purchase of the apparatus may then be made.

Abstract:

A coil assembly includes a coil form and a winding. The coil form includes a base defining a loop defined by a pair of opposed first sides and a pair of opposed second sides, a plurality of spaced apart support members extending from the base along the first sides, and a coil support structure extending from the base at each of the second sides. Each support member includes a first portion and a second portion, the first portion extending from the base and the second portion extending from the first portion, with a gap is defined between adjacent support members. The winding abuts the first portion of at least some of the spaced apart support members and is at least partially secured by the second portions of the support members. The winding abuts each of the coil support structures, and is curved in a saddle shape.

Abstract:

A process fluid flow measurement device includes a fluid flow member having an inlet with a first diameter and a throat with a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter. A first process fluid pressure tap is disposed proximate the inlet and a second process fluid pressure tap is disposed proximate the throat. A differential pressure sensor is operably coupled to the first and second process fluid pressure taps. Differential pressure measurement circuitry is coupled to the differential pressure sensor to provide a differential pressure signal related to a difference in pressure between process fluid pressure at the first and second taps. A process fluid velocity measurement device is positioned in the throat to measure a velocity of process fluid flowing therethrough and provide a fluid velocity indication. The differential pressure sensor signal and the fluid velocity indication are used to provide a calculated indication of fluid flow. This calculated indication can be relative to multiphasic fluids such as two-phase or three-phase fluids.

Abstract:

A magnetic flowmeter sensor includes two sensor faces, a conduit, a liner lining the conduit, and mechanical fasteners. The sensor faces are on each end of the sensor for connecting the sensor to the process fluid flow. The conduit connects the two sensor faces for conducting the process fluid flow through the sensor. The liner extends across at least a portion of each sensor face at each end of the flowmeter sensor to form a planar sealing surface on each end of the sensor. The liner includes holes through which the mechanical fasteners pass to mechanically attach the liner to the flowmeter sensor to prevent shifting of the liner. The mechanical fasteners do not extend beyond the planar sealing surfaces.

A magnetic flowmeter flowtube assembly includes a conduit with a first end and a second end. A first neck flange is coupled to the first end of the conduit and has an inside diameter with a first notch extending radially outwardly therefrom. A second neck flange is coupled to the second end and has an inside diameter with a second notch extending radially outwardly therefrom. A fluoropolymer liner is disposed within and extends through the first neck flange, the conduit and the second neck flange. A pair of electrodes is mounted relative to the liner to measure a voltage induced within a process fluid flowing through the liner. A first spring-energized seal ring is disposed in the first notch and a second spring-energized seal ring disposed in the second notch. A method of sealing a magnetic flowmeter having a fluoropolymer liner is also provided.

Abstract:

A flowtube assembly for a magnetic flowmeter is provided. The flowtube assembly includes a tube extending from a first mounting flange to a second mounting flange. Each of the first and second mounting flanges has a pipe flange facing surface for mounting to a respective pipe flange. A coil chamber is disposed outside the tube, between the first and second mounting flanges. The coil chamber has at least one coil located inside that is configured to generate a magnetic field within the tube. A liner/electrode module is positioned within the tube and has a non-conductive liner, at least one electrode and at least one electrode conductor. The non-conductive liner extends from the first mounting flange to the second mounting flange. The at least one electrode is positioned in the non-conductive liner to interact with a conductive process fluid. The electrode conductor extends from the at least one electrode to an interconnect tab disposed adjacent the pipe facing flange surface of one of the first and second mounting flanges. The liner/electrode module is positionable within the tube.
