Abstract:

A method relating driver perceived control of a vehicle to the quantitative measurements of the handling characteristics of a vehicle/tire combination. The steady-state handling characteristics of a vehicle are obtained by driving the vehicle at substantially negligible tire slippage. These characteristics provided the reference data which can be used to predict the manner in which a vehicle/tire combination will perform under test conditions. The difference between the actual measured response of the vehicle and the predicted response of the vehicle provides the basis for determining if the vehicle was in driver perceived oversteer or driver perceived understeer.

Disclosed herein are rubber compositions comprising hemp oil and a rubber, and tires (and tire components) made from the rubber compositions. Also disclosed are methods of improving the tear resistance of a rubber composition by utilizing hemp oil in the rubber composition.
