Abstract:

A facility for applying access control permissions is disclosed. In various embodiments, the facility receives an indication of an item for which to modify access control permissions, determines a set of items related to the indicated item, caches a set of relationships between the indicated item and the determined set of items, computes access control permissions for the indicated item, and applies the computed access control permissions to the indicated item when the computed access control permissions are different from the access control permissions actually applied on the indicated item.

A facility for creating shareable pinboard collections is described. In various embodiments, the facility receives an indication of a query defining a term for searching, employs a search provider to perform a search for information items matching a criteria, receives from the search provider an indication of a result corresponding to the query, creates a shareable pinboard collection, receives via a single action an indication to add the result to the shareable pinboard collection, and shares the shareable pinboard collection with a recipient.

An approach to setting up a collabortive workspace involves receiving a user's instructions to convert an object to a collaborative workspace. In response to this instruction, the approach creates the collaborative workspace in a substantially automated manner. The approach may thereby facilitate the provisioning of a collaborative workspace, eliminating or at least reducing the manual effort involved in setting up a collaborative workspace.
