A cordless digital audio headphone is disclosed. The headphone includes a pair of earphones connected to a headband. The earphones provide audible signals. The headphone also includes a memory slot positioned on the headband for receiving a memory card containing digitally stored audio information. A processor is disposed on the headband, and is coupled to the memory slot for retrieving the digitally stored audio information from the memory card. An analog to digital converter receives the digitally stored audio information, and provides the audible signal to the earphones.
A transactional processing system is used in conjunction with a transmitting source. The system allows for real-time authorization of payments for a plurality of products and services made available by the transmitting source. A video menu is sent to a receiver representing a list of the available products and services. The receiver contains a credit or debit card reader and transmits financial account information, as well as the selection from the menu, via a modem to a payment processor. The payment processor verifies the programming selection and account information and transmits an authorization signal to the vendor or service provider. The payment processor would verify financial account information and forward payment authorization to a financial institution. The vendor, in turn sends the selected product to the consumer upon receiving payment from the financial institution.
In a pay per view entertainment system, prerecorded entertainment such as musical works are distributed to subscribers over a cable network. The subscribers are able to listen to edited versions or previews of the complete musical works and to select desired musical works for recording. Before the musical work is recorded on a special receiver, the subscriber is billed for the service.
Device For Controlling Remote Interactive Receiver
A remote control device controls interaction of an interactive receiver unit positioned at a remote location. The remote control device has a housing and manually actuable keypad mounted on the housing. A control mechanism is mounted in the enclosure and operatively connected to the manually actuable keypad for receiving selected input data from the keypad corresponding to desired programming selections of the interactive receiver unit positioned at the remote location. Financial information is stored in the remote, and a transmitter transmits a desired program corresponding to a selected keypad sequence, and also transmits financial information of the user.
