Abstract:
A spinous process device and method are disclosed. The device includes a first plate having a first part slidably coupled to a second part, a second plate having a third part slidably coupled to a fourth part, and first and second connector devices configured to be placed through openings created in spinous processes and rotatably couple respective first and second parts to third and fourth parts of the first and second plates together allowing angular displacement of the second plate with respect to the first plate and secure the spinous processes between the first and second plates.
Method And Apparatus For Sampling Hazardous Material

Abstract:
Apparatus for sampling a material in a container both in a laboratory environment and in a field environment is shown. The apparatus includes a portable pump for generating either a partial pressure with respect to atmosphere or a partial vacuum with respect to atmosphere. The partial vacuum is used to force the material from the container through a collection tube into a specimen bottle. When the material in the container is too viscous to be directly drawn into the specimen bottle, a pressure is applied to one end of the collection tube and the material in the collection tube is driven into the specimen bottle. The footpump is modified to provide both a pressure and a vacuum nozzle and is easily portable to a remote location site.

Abstract:
A gateway unit which acts to provide interoperability between disparate mobile communications networks. The gateway unit provides the necessary protocol conversions between the different mobile networks. The gateway unit can be a stand-alone unit or co-located with a mobile switching center (MSC) wihtin North America or in foreign country. In each case, the gateway unit serves as an interconnection point between two or more networks. For example, the gateway unit converts messages from European networks, which use the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and mobile global title (MGT) protocols to North American networks, which use the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and international mobile station identity address (IMSI) protocols, and vis versa. The gateway unit preferably includes the elements of a processor, software and memory, all of which could be provided on a circuit board or in a conventional personal computer. Preferably, the conversions are performed through the use of a series of look-up tables, stored in the memory.
A mold extractor and method of manufacture thereof is provided. The extractor or tool is used to remove the annular wall, bottom wall, and lid of a plastic mold container from a concrete test sample taken at a construction site for later testing in a test laboratory. The extractor includes a hammer member, a guide member and a chisel member. The hammer is reciprocally displaced by an operator for applying a downward force on the container annular wall at the wall edge. The hammer has a peripheral wall having an elongate hole with an axis through which the guide portion extends. The hammer has enlarged end portions, for gripping by the operator and for applying the impact force. The guide member is an elongated round bar portion which has a handle at the top end thereof. The chisel member has a head portion, a square bar portion, a claw portion, and a chisel end portion. The claw portion is used for lifting the container lid by applying an upward force on the extractor.
