Abstract:
Approaches for a distributed storage system that comprises a plurality of nodes. Each node, of the plurality of nodes, executes one or more application processes which are capable of accessing persistent shared memory. The persistent shared memory is implemented by solid state devices physically maintained on each of the plurality of nodes. Each the one or more application processes, maintained on a particular node, of the plurality of nodes, communicates with a shared data fabric (SDF) to access the persistent shared memory. The persistent shared memory comprises a scoreboard implemented in shared DRAM memory that is mapped to a persistent storage. The scoreboard provides a crash tolerant mechanism for enabling application processes to communicate with the shared data fabric (SDF).

An electrotransport system (20) for delivering a therapeutic agent (36) through a body surface (40) (eg, skin) of a patient includes a pair of electrodes (34, 38) for contacting the body surface, at least one of which contains the therapeutic agent (36). The system (20) is physically separated into a control unit (22) and a delivery unit (24) connected by a radiated energy signal-based telemetry link. The telemetry link may be radio frequency, ultrasonic, optical, infrared or inductively coupled. Signals from the control unit may be transmitted to the delivery unit by the telemetry link, or vice versa. The delivery unit may control electrotransport current on the signal transmitted. The radiated energy signal may be encoded to improve immunity to extrinsic interference. The delivery unit (24) may be configured with sensor means for detecting a condition such as a body or system parameter reaching some predetermined limit.

Establishment of a Terrain Independent Communication using—The HF band (3-30 MHz) and VHF (30 to 300 MHz) frequency spectrums that is provided for use as shared spectrum by the FCC. Different segments within the spectrum are in use today by emergency and utility companies in an intermittent fashion. The utilization of the shared spectrum as of date is very low (typically below 20%). The invention seeks to identify optimum, and less frequented frequency ranges within the spectrum to establish terrain independent connectivity between base stations and end points up to 1200-mile radius. This connection is used to provide terrain independent communication for data communication for point to point and point to multi-point applications. Typically, this connection is used for short bust automatic data acquisition applications, such as sensor monitoring, and other communication applications.

Abstract:
System and method for automatic communication with remote devices enabling remote control and monitoring of the devices. The primary target is for low-power, remote devices running narrow or relatively narrow bandwidths, though the method is not restricted for any payload limits. The system enables two devices on a fully automated basis to identify each other, sound the radio paths between them to discover spectrum characteristics, select and exchange a vector of currently unused and optimum frequency bands for communication. Once defined, the devices use the frequency bands for automatic communication. The method enables devices to configure themselves for exchange of data and then the transfer of data. The base station and/or end points have the ability to initiate a connection and data transfer and use software defined radios to implement this capability.
