Abstract:

For use in a computer system having a bus coupled to first and second devices and network interface circuitry, a system for, and method of, allowing one of the first and second devices to communicate with a computer network via the network interface circuitry and a computer system incorporating the system or the method. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) transport stack circuitry, coupled between the bus and the network interface circuitry, that provides socket-layer access to the network interface circuitry via the bus and (2) channel control circuitry, associated with the transport stack circuitry, that establishes unique channels for allowing peer-to-peer, socket-layer access between the first and second devices and the transport interface circuitry within the computer system.

The present invention is generally directed to hospitality systems and in-room hospitality computer devices that are configured to communicate with or control other devices or systems within a hotel. In some aspects, a unified in-room hospitality device comprises a mobile computing device, such as a tablet computer, that is secured in place by an encasement in a hotel room. The encasement can be, for example, secured to a table surface of a night stand.

Abstract:

The present invention involves intradermal, percutaneous, parenteral, or enteral administration of a newly synthesized compound to detect, reduce, or eliminate the occurrence of allergic reactions to sulfonamides. The new compound is a substituted sulfonamide, the substituent being bound to the paraamino (4-position) group through an azo, amide, or other linkage. Because a purpose of the substituent is to make the new compound water soluble, it can take a variety of forms, but it must contain carbon and hydrogen, plus at least one of oxygen and nitrogen. Examples of usable substituents include imidazole, a carbohydrate, or an amino acid such as histidine, tyrosine, tryptophan, lysine, or tyrosine methyl ester; it may also be a synthetic polymer, polypeptde, polysaccharide, or an amino acid homopolymer.
