Abstract:
A gate seal for a knife gate valve comprising a sealing surface lining the gate channel and an integral gasket for compression between valve body halves, a chest seal for a knife gate valve comprising a body having an expandable sealing surface and one or more injection chambers adapted to receive an injectable packing, each chamber having a cross-sectional area that is completely surrounded by the body member, and/or a knife gate valve comprising one or both such seals. The chest seal body may comprise a knife gate slot that is peripherally surrounded by the body. The gate seal and the chest seal may comprise a single integral elastomeric member or separate components.

Abstract:
A gate valve seal for a gate valve including a body having an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture, and a gate closure reciprocally disposed within the body between a closed valve position where the gate closure blocks the apertures and an open valve position where the gate closure does not block the apertures. The seal includes a first resilient seat for placement in the inlet aperture of the gate valve body and a second resilient seat for placement in the outlet aperture of the gate valve body. The seats sealingly engage one another and the gate closure when the closure cycles between the valve positions. Each of the seats includes an inner diametrical surface which generates sealing pressure that increases as internal pipeline pressure increases.

Abstract:
A trapezoidal shaped peripheral seal is inserted in a trapezoidal cast peripheral groove in the valve body. A relief cut-out is disposed beneath the peripheral groove. The sealing function is effected by loading the peripheral seal with the gate so as to deflect the seal into the groove a relief cut out which places the seal in a shear mode.
