Abstract:

A dealer inventory management system is provided for recommending which types of vehicles a dealer should order from the automotive manufacturer. The computer-implemented system includes a vehicle sales data structure for storing vehicle sales information, a dealer data structure for storing dealer information, and a vehicle availability data structure for storing which vehicles are available to each dealer. A market determination module accesses the vehicle sales and dealer data structures to determine an ideal sales mix of vehicles for each dealer based upon a sampling of vehicle sales made in the dealers local market. A dealer assessment module then accesses the vehicle availability data structure to formulate a recommended order for each dealer by comparing the dealers ideal sales mix to the mix of vehicles available to that dealer.

A plastic wheel cover is provided with a plurality of recesses opening to a flange of the wheel and the tire bead when the cover is assembled to the wheel. Each recess houses a generally C-shaped clip having a body portion fitting within the opening of the recess and return bent leg portions locked between end walls of the recess and a transverse intermediate wall. Axially spaced rows of teeth on the body portion engage the tire bead and flange of the wheel to retain the cover to the wheel.

A vehicle wheel cover assembly includes a lightweight molded plastic cover member having a series of axial inwardly extending flanges which are apertured. The wire ring assembly includes cantilevered loops having bight portions which extend outwardly through the openings of the flanges to retain the wire ring assembly to the wheel. Additional bight portions of the loops engage the flanges of the cover member to clamp these flanges to the wheel.

A vehicle wheel cover is retained on a vehicle wheel by a plurality of cantilever type retainers having teeth which engage both a flange of the wheel and the tire bead seat. The retainers are removably attached to the cover body and are pre-shaped to a slightly arcuate configuration prior to assembly of the cover to the wheel to provide for ease of assembly together with low stress and a high load.

A vehicle wheel cover includes a plastic cover body and an annular retention band which is secured to the cover body by a series of projections on a flange of the body being received through openings in the band. The material of the openings is formed into integral lanced tabs which engage shoulders of the projections. The axial extent of the openings is greater than that of the projections to permit axial adjustment of the cover body and retention band relative to each other. The band is provided with retaining fingers for retaining engagement of the cover on a vehicle wheel.

Abstract:

A tapered shank ball stud, as used in an articulated joint assembly, has its tapered shank secured in seated engagement in the tapered aperture of a support member in such an assembly by a lock nut threaded onto the externally threaded end of the ball stud with a collapsing washer of original C-shaped annulus configuration sandwiched between the member and the lock nut, the washer being operative as the nut is driven onto the ball stud to effect axial movement of the ball stud to fully seat the tapered shank portion thereof in the tapered aperture in the support member thereby preventing rotation of the ball stud as the lock nut is torqued down to effect collapsing of the washer into a final flat ring-like washer configuration.
