Abstract:
A method for grafting a polysaccharide to a surface of a cell culture article includes (a) contacting the surface of the article with the polysaccharide in a dry form; and (b) exposing the surface of the article and contacted dry polysaccharide to ionizing radiation to graft the polysaccharide to the surface of the article. In addition to grafting the polysaccharide to the surface, the ionizing radiation may serve to sterilize the article.

Abstract:
A substrate with a textured surface is disclosed. The substrate may be, for example, a light emitter comprising a light guide, for example a backlight element for use in a display device, wherein a surface of the light guide, for example a glass substrate, is configured to have a textured surface with a predetermined RMS roughness and a predetermined correlation length of the texture. A plurality of light scatter suppressing features can be provided on the textured surface. Textured surfaces disclosed herein may be effective to reduce electrostatic charging of the substrate surface. Methods of producing the textured surface are also disclosed.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein are glass articles, such as light guide plates, comprising a first surface () and an opposing second surface (), wherein the first surface comprises an array of light extraction features () having a diameter of at least about 10 microns and a height ranging from about 1 micron to about 10 microns. Display devices comprising such glass articles are also disclosed herein as well as methods for producing such glass articles. The method involves depositing ink on a first surface of a glass substrate to form an array of coated and uncoated surfaces and etching the uncoated surfaces.

Abstract:
High contrast, glass-based, writeable/erasable front projection screens are provided. The screens include a transparent glass sheet which has a front surface and a back surface separated by a distance d. The back surface is in optical contact with a diffusing element. During use of the projection screen, the glass sheet transmits image light from a projector to the diffusing element and the diffusing element reflects a portion of that light back through the glass sheet to a user. The screens have a user-facing surface that is a writable/erasable surface. In embodiments, the distance d is less than or equal to 0.2 millimeters, the whiteness W of the projection screen is less than or equal to 0.5, and/or the contrast C of the projection screen is at least 75%.
