Abstract:

A method for mapping a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) interface to a Directory Assistance (DA) system can comprise the following steps. First, LDAP compatible search arguments for searching an LDAP database can be extracted from an LDAP request. Second, the LDAP compatible search arguments can be converted to search arguments compatible with a DA system database. Third, the DA system database can be queried using the converted search arguments. Fourth, a result set of listings from the DA system database can be received in response to the query. Finally, the result set can be converted to a result set compatible with LDAP. Preferably, each of the five steps can be performed in a plug-in to the LDAP server. Additionally, the method can include the step of receiving the LDAP request from an LDAP client. Moreover, the method can include the step of receiving the LDAP request in an LDAP server.

Abstract:

Abstract:

A method of simulating a low-bandwidth connection over a higher-bandwidth connection. According to the method, data is received from a first device at a first predetermined speed, and the data is transferred to a second device over the high-bandwidth connection at a second predetermined speed. The second predetermined speed is less than the first predetermined speed and less than the speed of the high-bandwidth connection. In one preferred method, the data is transferred over a high-bandwidth LAN and the second predetermined speed is the speed of a modem connection. A computer system is also provided. The computer system includes a first device, a second device, and a speed control layer. The speed control layer is coupled between the first and second devices, and slows data transfer from the first device to the second device over a connection to a first predetermined speed that is less than the normal speed of the connection. In a preferred embodiment, the speed control layer includes an interface that is used to set the first predetermined speed.

A method of administering a voice server can include, within the voice server, receiving a call from a system administrator. Call control data of the received call can be matched with a system administration application of the voice server. The system administration application can be executed. Abstract:

A method and machine readable storage for adding a simple network management protocol (SNMP) interface to an existing resource management extension-enabled management agent. The SNMP interface can be added without modifying the management agent. The method includes the step of reading definitions of managed objects associated with said management agent. The definitions can be read at runtime of the management agent. A SNMP management information base (MIB) definition is automatically generated. A method of deriving audio content from visual content can include modifying a visual markup language document requested by a client computer system to specify a control for generating an audio markup language document version of the visual markup language document. The modified visual markup language document can be provided to the client computer system.
