A double-body therapeutics face and tracheostomy mask which functions as both a mask for the nose and mouth of a patient and a mask for the tracheostomy tube area of a patient is disclosed. The mask of the present invention serves as a means for delivering a gaseous medicament or a liquid, such as liquid medication, in the form of a fine spray or mist to the nose, mouth, and trachea of the patient simultaneously. The upper body () of the mask fits over the nose and mouth area of the patient and the lower body () of the mask fits a patient's tracheostomy tube area. The upper and lower mask bodies may be connected to one another and to a nebulizing apparatus () and adjustable-length delivery conduit (). Therefore, the double-body therapeutics face and tracheostomy mask of the present invention may be adjusted to comfortably fit the face and trachea area of any sized patient.
A method and apparatus for nebulizing a tracheostomy tube are disclosed. A nebulizing pad includes a flap and an absorbent central core for containing a nebulizing agent. The absorbent central core is saturated with a nebulizing agent and placed proximate to the opening of a tracheostomy tube by adhering the flap to an edge of the tracheostomy tube. A user nebulizes the tracheostomy tube by inhaling air through the absorbent central core into the tracheostomy tube. As inhaled air passes through the absorbent central core, at least a portion of the nebulizing agent intermixes with the air in vaporous form. This moistened air vapor intermixture then enters the tracheostomy tube and nebulizes the tube and the trachea.
A medical device and methods of using the medical device to hold a percutaneous endoscopic gastrotomy (PEG) tube. The medical device includes a front side and a back side. The front side includes a left section, a middle section, and a right section. The left section and the right section each include a refastenable material. The back side includes an adhesive section and a non-adhesive section. The adhesive section adheres the device to the skin of a recipient. A PEG tube placed in the middle section is secured within the device by applying pressure to the non-adhesive section until the refastenable material of the left and right sections engage. Conversely, the tube may be removed without affecting the adhesion of the device to the recipient or the integrity of the tube by disengaging the left and right sections of the device.
