Abstract:

A cabinet lock which includes a housing having a latch mounted in the housing for pivotal movement into and out of the housing together with a push plate slidably mounted in the housing for releasing the lock. The latch has a slot formed therein and a first spring urges the push plate away from the latch whereby a lug on the push plate engages the slot of the latch which prevents the latch from pivoting from a position extending outwardly of the lock. A second spring connected to the latch and the housing urges the latch inwardly of the housing when the lug of the push plate is removed from the slot of the latch as the push plate is pushed inwardly of the housing against the action of the first spring. The housing carries a frangible plate covering the push plate which may be broken whereby the push plate may be pushed. The latch is pivotally secured in a position extending outwardly of the housing when the push plate is released and is urged away from the latch thereby engaging the lug of the push plate into the slot of the latch.

Abstract:

A door latch for a fire extinguisher cabinet including in combination a cabinet having a hinge mounted door. A lock is mounted on the door with the lock having a latch extending therefrom engageable with a portion of the cabinet, the latch made of yieldable material whereby when the door is pulled outwardly of the cabinet the latch yields and bypasses the portion of the cabinet thereby allowing an opening of the door.

Abstract:

A cabinet for a fire extinguisher including first and second sidewalls connected to a bottom wall and a top wall with a door-hingedly connected, to a sidewall. A conventional tumbler lock is mounted on the door with a latch on the inner end engageable with a catch mounted on the inside of the cabinet. A small closure plate is hingedly mounted at an opening formed in the door adjacent the lock. The closure plate is releasably held closed by a strip of adhesive so that when the closure plate is pushed inwardly of the opening, the edge of the closure plate progressively contacts the latch and disengages the same from the catch thereby allowing the door to be opened.

Abstract:

A cabinet for housing a fire extinguisher including two sidewalls, a back wall, a bottom wall and a removable transparent partial front wall slidably mounted between said sidewalls. Channels formed by two sets of right angular flanges extending from said sidewalls provide the channel structure into which the front wall is slidably mounted. The cabinet is finished off and closed by a top closure member comprised of a flat portion and a depending flat front portion joined at a right angle. The closure member's flat top portion is slidably and removably mounted in channels formed by right angular flanges extending from the top of said sidewalls and back wall and a partial top wall spaced below said flanges. With both the partial front wall and the closure member inserted in their respective channel structures as far as possible, the depending flat portion of the closure member overlaps and meets the partial front wall thereby closing and completing the cabinet. A conventional cylinder lock is mounted in the depending flat front portion of the closure member, the rotatable latch bar of the lock engageable with a right angular flange depending from the partial top wall for locking the cabinet.
