Authorities said Morales' son, Hector Natal, set fire to a multifamily home in 2011 as 17 residents were sleeping to retaliate against one resident for not paying a drug debt. Three people died: 42-year-old Wanda Roberson, her 8-year-old son, Quayshawn, and her 21-year-old niece, Jaquetta Roberson.
Hector Morales, 51, also will serve three years of supervised release for his role in the fatal arson at an apartment building on Wolcott Street in which Wanda Roberson, 41, Quayshawn Roberson, 8, and Jaqueeta Roberson, 21, died.
The fire killed 42-year-old Wanda Roberson, her 8-year-old son, Quayshawn and her 21-year-old niece, Jaqueeta Roberson. Authorities say Natal set the fire in a drug dispute with another person in the New Haven building.
Prosecutor Deirdre Daly told a federal jury in her opening statement Monday that witnesses will testify that Hector Natal admitted setting the fire in New Haven that killed 42-year-old Wanda Roberson, her 8-year-old son, Quayshawn, and 21-year-old niece, Jaquetta Roberson.
