    A coupling for use between two rotating shafts in a high-temperature, high-vacuum environment is described. The coupling includes a socket having two closed loop, axially spaced, interior bearing surfaces and a roller having two closed loop, axially spaced, exterior bearing surfaces for rolling contact with the interior bearing surfaces of the socket. The interior and exterior bearing surfaces make rolling contact at two radially opposed and axially spaced locations, and the second shaft is disposed at a desired angle with respect to the first shaft. Means are provided for preventing disengagement of the roller and shaft as they rotate. In a preferred embodiment, the angle between the shafts is constant as they rotate and the roller is sized so that it is easily removed from the socket when the axes of the shafts are approximately aligned. The coupling of this invention enables a substrate to be rotated while supported at a desired angle to a coating vapor source and a substrate heater inside an evacuated chamber.

    An apparatus for supporting a read/write head at a selected one of a plurality of substantially circular, concrete data tracks and for absorbing the rebound shock of a rotary actuator, the apparatus including a head actuator assembly having at least one read/write head mounted thereon, an actuator housing, and a stationary coil coupled to the head actuator. At least one permanent magnet is fixedly mounted relative to the head actuator. Upper and lower magnetic plates support the permanent magnet and each has at least two cavities which are substantially aligned with, but displaced off-axis from, the cavities of the other plate. At least two crash stops are provided, one to limit pivoting movement of the head actuator at the inner diameter of the hard disk and the other to limit movement of the head actuator at the outer disk diameter. Each of the crash stops is insertably retained within the corresponding cavities of the magnetic plates to preload the crash stops to provide a stopping force immediately upon impact with the carriage. Each crash stop is formed as a steel pin and includes a central generally cylindrical material which reduces the rebound shock of the head actuator after it strikes either of the crash stops.

    Provided is a non-invasive system and method for determining a fuel value for a target muscle and potentially at least one indicator muscle. The method includes receiving an ultrasound scan of a target muscle; evaluating at least a portion of the ultrasound scan to determine fuel value within the target muscle; recording the determined fuel value for the muscle as an element of a data set for the muscle; evaluating the fuel data set to determine a value range; and in response to the range being at least above a pre-determined threshold, establishing a target score for the muscle as based on an upper portion of the value range. The method may be repeated to identify ranges for a plurality of muscles, the muscle with the greatest range being identified as an indicator muscle. Based on these findings the muscles estimated fuel level, fuel rating and energy status may be determined. An associated system is also disclosed.

The method continues by introducing noise into the pixels of the image and thresholding the pixels of the image to provide a binary image having a plurality of structural elements of different sizes. The method continues with morphing the structural elements of the binary image to remove small structural elements and connect large structural elements. With this resulting image, the method distinguishes muscle fiber and tendon from remaining elements and determines the pennation angle and/or the fascicle length from the muscle fiber and the tendon. Associated apparatuses and computer program products are also disclosed.
