Abstract:A vehicle tester using integrated simulation model and physical parts under test for determining effects of the physical parts to a complete vehicle incorporating the parts. A simulation model representing the vehicle excluding the physical parts is provided. A test scenario is applied to the simulation model. The response of the simulation model is translated to a test condition applying to the physical parts under test, to obtain the physical parts response to the test condition in real time. Responses and changes occurred on the parts under test are dynamically obtained and incorporated into a calculation of the effects of the physical parts to the vehicle using the simulation model. A report of the calculated effects is then generated.

Abstract:A supervisor module for managing vehicle testing is disclosed. The supervisor module includes logic configured to provide a startup and initialization function with respect to testing of a vehicle, logic configured to provide sequence control and event management with respect to testing of the vehicle, logic configured to receive simulation results from a simulator, the simulator configured to simulate operation with respect to the vehicle, logic configured to receive data resulting from actuation of a vehicle component, logic configured to analyze the simulation results and the data resulting from actuation of the vehicle component and generate one or more control signals based on the analysis, and logic configured to forward the one or more control signals to one or more actuators to dynamically actuate the vehicle component.

Abstract:A roadway simulator restraint system supports a vehicle at each of its wheels on simulated roadways which comprise endless belts suitably driven to cause wheel rotation. A plurality of passive links are provided for restraining the vehicle in longitudinal, lateral, and yaw degrees of freedom, while permitting free motion in roll and pitch moments, and vertical directions. Additionally, the linkages can provide inputs in aerodynamic force directions to simulate responses to vehicle dynamics during actual operation. The individual roadways that support the wheels can be independently controlled as to speed, and can be turned. Suitable force measurements are made in desired axes to provide for a complete controlled simulation of vehicle operation on an actual roadway.
