Abstract:

The transport of ABCD bits in a digital packet network is facilitated by the inclusion of the ABCD bits into the RTP header of the digital packets. The ABCD bits are first placed in the unused bits of the RTP header. Redundancy of the previous ABCD bits, when applicable, is achieved by restricting the size of fields in the header to reserve space for redundant ABCD bits. The ABCD bits are placed in the reserved portions of restricted header fields.

Abstract:

A message-based memory system for Digital Signal Processor (DSP) storage expansion has a shared memory device connected to a number of DSPs through a packet communication bus. Each of the DSPs has a packet bus interface interconnected to the packet bus; and a messaging unit connected to the packet bus interface. The memory device interconnected to the packet bus can provide shared memory space for the DSPs to increase the amount of memory available to each DSP. The memory device can also be utilized to provide access to common information such as shared data or shared programing that may need to be run by multiple DSPs. The DSPs and the memory device communicate through the packet bus interface by generating packetized read and write requests.

Abstract:

A distributed intelligence conferencing system is disclosed, having a plurality of conferencing nodes to connect groups of participants to a conference. Each of the conferencing nodes provides for the connection of one or more participants to the conference. Each node includes a DSP for distributed signal processing, eliminating the need for a central processor. The node DSP has a signal measuring device for measuring a significant characteristic of the signals from each of the participants, such as power; a processing device, interconnected with the signal measuring device, for determining the relative characteristics, such as power levels, of each of the number of participant input signals; a communication device, interconnected with the processing device, for communicating the measured signal characteristics for a plurality of participant input signals to all other conferencing nodes; muting means for muting individual participant input signals so that only selected signals are transmitted over the conference bus to the other participants.

Abstract:

An automatic gain control circuit for use with a motorcycle radio and headset features an adjustable control for setting the maximum signal allowed to reach the headset, while allowing normal signal levels below that point to be controlled at the motorcycle radio. The circuit may be easily incorporated for use with a previously installed radio as well as an enhancement for new radio designs. Isolation transformers on both the input and output of the circuit eliminate the necessity to ground the circuit. Bass boost and internal gain circuits compensate for internal losses and headphone loading characteristics to provide near-transparent signal transfer below the set maximum signal level.

Abstract:

An interactive video system supports functions typically expected with a VCR such as play, pause, fast forward and rewind. A set top box is coupled to a display terminal and a first interface. The set top box includes a memory for storing an operating system in set top enabling codes. A video dial tone network includes a control channel and a data channel coupled to a second interface linked to the first interface. A first gateway controls establishment of a video session between a video server and the display terminal. A second gateway establishes connection between the video server and the set top box over a data channel in response to an input from the first gateway. An application server coupled to the first gateway and the video server contains executable code for transferring video data, video and audio information from the video server to the display terminal. The application server includes a shared queue coupled to a plurality of application engines and set top boxes and includes program code for multi-tasking operation. The code operates the application engines in response to application tables to provide video transmission as a panel object indicative of the state of set top boxes in a video session.

Abstract:

A generally Z-shape bar has on one free end portion a forwardly-facing claw and a rearwardly-facing notch. The other free end portion constitutes a handle, and the surfaces of the knee connecting the end portions constitute anvil surfaces. Arms projecting laterally from the knee engages beneath and lift up a covering shingle whereby the claw or notch can be manipulated so as to engage a nail which holds down a covered shingle.
