  • Signal Processor

  • US Patent:
    43330800, Jun 1, 1982
  • Filed:
    Jul 18, 1977
  • Appl. No.:
    5/816422
  • Inventors:
John D. Collins - Burlington MA
Douglas S. MacFall - Winchester MA
William A. Sciarretta - Lexington MA
  • Assignee:
    Raytheon Company - Lexington MA
  • International Classification:
    G01S 1328
  • US Classification:
    343 172PC
  • Abstract:
A signal processor is disclosed wherein an intermediate frequency chirp pulse is pulse compressed and the linearly frequency modulated, intermediate frequency component of such compressed pulse is removed. With such an arrangement, various weighting techniques may be effectively used to reduce sidelobes of the compressed pulse while, in a radar system application, retaining the sense of the frequency of a Doppler shifted compressed pulse.
  • Electromagnetic Energy Detection

  • US Patent:
    63237687, Nov 27, 2001
  • Filed:
    Jan 9, 2001
  • Appl. No.:
    9/756808
  • Inventors:
    Simon Bessendorf - Brighton MA
Richard V. Kemper - Westford MA
William A. Sciarretta - Lexington MA
Edward T. Lewis - Sudbury MA
  • Assignee:
    Raytheon Company - Lexington MA
  • International Classification:
    G08B 1318
  • US Classification:
    340552
  • Abstract:
The invention provides apparatus and methods for detecting electromagnetic energy using an array of detectors arranged in at least one row and multiple columns. A single crystal body has multiple doped regions disposed therein. Each one of the detectors produces charge in a corresponding one of the doped regions in the body in response to electromagnetic energy impinging upon that detector. A first charge transfer device includes an output port and multiple serially coupled charge storage cells including multiple first charge transfer regions disposed in the body parallel to the row, or rows, of detectors. Multiple second charge transfer devices include multiple second charge transfer regions disposed in the body transverse to the row, or rows, of detectors and the charge storage cells. Each one of the second charge transfer regions is adapted to transfer charge produced in a corresponding one of the doped regions to a corresponding one of the charge storage cells. Each one of the doped regions corresponding to one of the detectors has a doping profile adapted to produce an electric field in a direction from the doped region toward a corresponding one of the multiple second charge transfer regions.
  • Rf Connector Having A Compliant Contact

  • US Patent:
    6039580, Mar 21, 2000
  • Filed:
    Jul 16, 1998
  • Appl. No.:
    9/116839
  • Inventors:
William A. Sciarretta - Lexington MA
    Paul Setzco - Wellesley MA
James D. Arangio - Saugus MA
  • Assignee:
    Raytheon Company - Lexington MA
  • International Classification:
    H01R 909
  • US Classification:
    439 63
  • Abstract:
An RF connector includes an electrical insulator having an aperture and a conductive contact disposed within the aperture and having at least one compliant, compressible end. The insulator is disposed in an aperture of a conductive support plate. When an RF element is secured to the support plate in use, the compliant end of the conductive contact is compressed against a conductive pad of the RF element. In one embodiment, the RF connector includes a compressible, conductive annular ring disposed concentrically around the compliant end of the conductive contact and adapted for being compressed against a ground pad of the RF element in use in order to effect a coaxial RF interconnection. The conductive contact may take various forms, such as a watch band pin, a Fuzz Button. RTM. or a bellows arrangement.
