Abstract:
A system for installing and removing a production packer and ball valve apparatus in a well casing. The packer apparatus and valve apparatus are transported into a casing with an on/off overshot connected to a string of tubing. The packer is set by tubing manipulation independent of operation of the valve and the on/off connector and is resettable and can be disabled by a straight upward pull on the tubing string. The valve apparatus is selectively operable by rotary manipulation of the tubing string through the disengageable overshot and utilizes rotary motion to rotate a ball valve element between open and closed positions of the ball valve. In one form of the invention, the overshot is rotatably disengageable from the ball valve while the ball valve is operated by rotation of the string of pipe. The ball valve apparatus is capable of withstanding pressure in opposite directions.

Abstract:
A retrievable subsurface well casing slip and packer apparatus and method having upper and lower interconnected and expandable slips which have a combined circumferential engagement of a well conduit greater than or equal to 360. degree. and a control means for releasing engaging means for engagement with a well bore and permitting rotation of a running string in clockwise and counterclockwise directions without releasing the engagement means for setting the apparatus in a well bore.
A packer is disclosed having a setting piston mounted on the body thereof. The packer is hydraulically set prior to treating or cementing. The packer has a sliding sleeve valve which is open during run-in. After the packer has set, the setting tool is released from the valve. The valve may then be operated through manipulation of the tubing string. The tubing string can be disengaged and reengaged into the packer body to determine if the valve has closed by measuring the pressure conditions at the surface.

Abstract:
A retrievable subsurface well conduit engaging apparatus having releasable engaging means which are movable outwardly to engage a well conduit and which may be released by up and down movement of an operating means. Locking means maintains the well conduit engaging means in engagement with the well conduit until the operating means is moved upwardly which releases a coupling means from the locking means and allows disengagement of the apparatus.
