Abstract:
A hybrid constant current control system that uses both pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control. When transitioning from constant voltage mode to constant current mode the present invention can continue to control using PWM. Thereafter, when the voltage has dropped, the present invention smoothly transitions to PFM mode. The point of transition is based upon the switching frequency and the lowest rated voltage of operation. The system and method avoids very short (narrow) Ton times which ensures accurate constant current (CC) control with bipolar junction transistor (BJT) devices. The present invention also avoids acoustic noise because the switching frequency is maintained at a high enough level to avoid such acoustic noise even when the energy transferred through the transformer is still substantial and the output voltage is not too low. In addition the output current limit is insensitive to variation in the inductance-input voltage ratio, and is minimized against leakage inductance.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating frequency tunable radio-frequency (RF) pulses utilizing a tunable cavity solid-state laser are disclosed. In one preferred embodiment, an optical RF source provides optical pulses with 1 to 200 GHz repetition rate. The disclosed optical RF source consists of a pump laser and mode matching optics, a pump beam coupler, a laser cavity end mirror, a laser gain medium, a Saturable Bragg Reflector, and a mechanism to change the effective optical length of the laser cavity. By adjusting the effective optical cavity length between the cavity end mirror that also serves as laser output coupler and Saturable Bragg Reflector that also serves as the other end mirror of the cavity, the repetition rate of the output optical pulses is changed. In another preferred embodiment, an optical RF source consists of a pump laser and mode matching optics, a Saturable Bragg Reflector that also serves as a pump coupler, a laser cavity end mirror that also serves as laser output coupler, a laser gain medium, and a mechanism to change the effective optical length of the laser cavity. By adjusting the effective optical cavity length between the cavity end mirror and Saturable Bragg Reflector, the repetition rate of the output optical pulses is changed. In yet another preferred embodiment, an optical RF source further includes an optical to electrical signal converter, and at least one of the following: a RF connector, a connecting waveguide, and a coaxial transmission cable with at least one terminating, impedance matching resistor. In an additional preferred embodiment, an optical RF source consists of a pump laser and mode matching optics, a Saturable Bragg Reflector that also serves as an output coupler and laser cavity end mirror, a second laser cavity end mirror also serving as pump coupler, a laser gain medium, and a mechanism to change the effective optical cavity length of the laser. By adjusting the effective optical cavity length between the cavity end mirrors, the repetition rate of the output optical pulses is changed.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which UEs may communicate with satellites or base stations, or both in a non-terrestrial network. Due to large distances between transmitting devices and receiving devices in a non-terrestrial network, the UE may account for propagation delay and frequency shift of communications with a satellite based on location information of the satellite. The UE may receive first satellite location information from a base station or a satellite, via a broadcast message. The UE may receive second satellite location information from the wireless network node via a unicast message, where both the first satellite location information and the second satellite location information relate to a same satellite. The UE may transmit an uplink communication via the satellite based on at least one of the first satellite location information or the second satellite location information.

Abstract:
A topological spin memory effect, defined as the recovery of magnetic skyrmions or magnetic bubble skyrmions in magnetic thin films after a transition to a dramatically different spin texture, is used for encrypted non-volatile information storage. The storage strategy is based on magnetic skyrmions, that is, topologically protected spin textures comprising chiral domain walls surrounding small (e.g., nanometers to microns in diameter), typically circular, single-domain cores. Systems and methods are described for encrypted non-volatile information storage based on a spin memory effect in magnetic thin films that support skyrmions. Systems and methods encrypt and recover information stored in the form of magnetic skyrmions.

The combination of: a portable electronic device; a base on the portable electronic device and having at least one connector part; and an accessory usable with the portable electronic device and having at least one connector part. The at least one connector part on the base and at least one connector part on the accessory are configured to cooperate such that: a) the accessory is movable from a starting position, fully spaced from the base, to against the base and guidingly relative to the base in translation in a first direction along a first path portion towards one fully connected relationship with the base; and b) with the accessory in the one fully connected relationship with the base the accessory is blocked from being separated from the base.
