Abstract:

A method includes constraining total power received from cellular users accessing a base station through any one of a TDMA access, CDMA access, and a derivation of a TDMA/CDMA access, and scheduling users for access to the base station within the constrained total power in response to an optimization that for each time slot determines a group of time critical cellular users and their transmission power factoring in instantaneous location-dependent channel states and long term quality of service performance. In the preferred embodiment, the optimization includes an iterative solution of an NP-hard Knapsak problem with initialization of maximum transmit power per cellular user inversely proportional to at least one of an activity factor of a cellular user's channel, the cellular user's antenna gain, the instantaneous channel gain of a dedicated uplink channel for the cellular user, and other-cellular user to same-cellular user interference ratio, and directly proportional to total resource power consumption.

Abstract:

A projection mode microdisplay includes a silicon substrate having disposed thereon a first alignment layer having a first alignment direction, and a cover substrate having disposed thereon a second alignment layer having a second alignment direction. A liquid crystal material having spacers disbursed therethrough is disposed between to maintain the cell gap which is about 1.2 microns. The first and second alignment directions form about a 27 degree twist angle. An electrode disposed on the cover substrate and the silicon substrate are connected to a control system that sequentially applies an electric field across the cell gap to control the orientation of the liquid crystal material. A retarder is disposed on the cover substrate and has an alignment direction that is at -38 degrees5 degrees with respect to an x-axis of the display, wherein the liquid crystal material has a turn-on time no greater than 1.0 milliseconds and a turn-off time no greater than 4.0 milliseconds. The foregoing microdisplay has a contrast ratio of at least up to 2000:1, and a polarization conversion efficiency of at least 94%. A similar construction for a near-eye mode microdisplay utilizing a comparable thin cell gap can also be used.

Abstract:

Embodiments of the disclosure provide methods for forming MTJ structures from a film stack disposed on a substrate for MRAM applications and associated MTJ devices. The methods described herein include forming the film properties of material layers from the film stack to create a film stack with a sufficiently high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA). An iron containing oxide capping layer is utilized to generate the desirable PMA. By utilizing an iron containing oxide capping layer, thickness of the capping layer can be more finely controlled and reliance on boron at the interface of the magnetic storage layer and the capping layer is reduced.
