An electrostatic discharge device may provide better protection of an integrated circuit by more uniform breakdown of a plurality of finger regions. The plurality of finger regions may extend through a first region of a substrate having a first conductivity type and into a second region of the substrate more lightly doped with impurities of the first conductivity type. An electrostatic discharge device may include a collector region having a middle region that may be highly doped with impurities of the first conductivity type. The middle region may be proximate to a layer that is lightly doped with impurities of the first conductivity type and a layer that is doped with impurities of the second conductivity type. The collector region may decrease the breakdown voltage of the electrostatic discharge device.

A method for determining call center resource allocation can include modeling call center performance over an operations time period using a computer. A number of replicas of the modeled call center performance are simulated, using the computer, over a planning time period, each replica having random contact arrivals and contact service times following a stochastic arrival and service process according to a probability distributions of inter-arrival time and service time. Multiple iterations of each simulation are run on the computer to optimize call center resource allocation. A particular simulation iteration is tested against a criterion of convergence, and call center resource is allocated based on the particular simulation iteration with a successful criterion of convergence.

Abstract:
Systems and methods of enhanced backup job scheduling are disclosed. An example method may include determining a number of jobs (n) in a backup set, determining a number of tape drives (m) in the backup device, and determining a number of concurrent disk agents (maxDA) configured for each tape drive. The method may also include defining a scheduling problem based on n, m, and maxDA. The method may also include solving the scheduling problem using an integer programming (IP) formulation to derive a bin-packing schedule that minimizes makespan (S) for the backup set.

Abstract:
A power supply controller and method for improving the transient response of the power supply controller. The power supply controller includes a pulse width modulation control module connected to a feedback network. The feedback network is composed of an amplifier having an inverting input terminal, a non-inverting input terminal, and an output terminal. A compensation network is coupled between the inverting input terminal and the output terminal of the amplifier and a reference voltage is coupled to the non-inverting input terminal of the amplifier. A switch is coupled between the output terminal of the amplifier and an input terminal of the compensation network. The transient response of the controller is improved by operating the controller in a closed loop compensation configuration during a continuously pulsing operating mode and in an open loop compensation configuration during a pulse skip operating mode.

Abstract:
An integrated circuit power device includes a monolithic voltage regulator channel for providing low voltage high current output. The devices can be installed in parallel without a master control IC and without limitations on the number of channels to support CPU power, or can be used alone to support regular Point of Load. Novel and effective control scheme and analog circuits are provided to implement the device, including a distributed current sharing and adaptive voltage position scheme, an automatic interleaving scheme with self-adjusted carrier generator, and a novel current sensing scheme with an accurate transconductance amplifier.

Abstract:
One embodiment is a method that predicts a probability of users responding to a second email campaign based on data gathered from a first email campaign. Data from the first email campaign is applied to different models to identify attributes that are predictive of users who responded to the first email campaign. These attributes are used to predict a probability of users responding to the second email campaign.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with workforce planning. One example method includes receiving a project data associated with a project opportunity. The project data includes a probability data. The probability data describes the likelihood of a project opportunity being selected. The project data includes a workforce demand. The example method may also include establishing an objective function that is based, at least in part, on the project data, and a set of constraints. The objective function concerns a workforce allocation plan. The example method may also include minimizing a workforce cost by solving the objective function in light of the set of constraints. Solving the objective function includes optimizing a tradeoff between labor utilization and project demand fulfillment. The example method may also include providing the workforce allocation plan.
