A method and apparatuses for measuring the temperature of a radiating body utilizing the alexandrite effect. The method includes the steps of generating a mathematical relationship between a hue value and temperature for an alexandrite effect filter, receiving radiation from the radiating body, measuring a spectral power distribution of the radiation, calculating the hue value based on the spectral power distribution, and determining the temperature using the mathematical relationship. To implement the method, the apparatuses include an optical probe, a spectral or calorimetric measurement device, and a computer. The apparatuses can measure the temperature of any radiating body with or without spectral lines in the spectral power distribution, and are particularly advantageous to measure high to ultrahigh temperature for radiating bodies with spectral lines, such as plasma, electric arc, and high temperature flames.

An optical filter used for modifying the spectral power distribution of high color temperature lamp to simulate CIE standard daylight illuminant. The optical filter comprising a heat-absorbing glass plate, a heat insulation washer, a longpass glass plate, and one or more spectral modification glass plate in series. The longpass glass plate and the heat absorbing glass plate determine the wavelength range, and the spectral modification glass plate(s) modify the spectral power distribution of the high color temperature halogen lamp. The CIE daylight simulators with the optical filter have very high colorimetric indexes.
A method and system, including a computer program product, implementing a color terminology for accurate color grading of gemstones are provided. The method includes generating a reference color to match that of a graded gemstone under the standard viewing environment, processing color data in different color spaces, assigning a color grade to specify the color of the gemstone graded. The reference color can be continuously changed by adjusting the hue, lightness and saturation values. The color grade comprises a color name and one or more corresponding color coordinates and/or one or more corresponding color notations, in the form of Color Name (Color Coordinates). The color name is used for verbal description of the color, and the color coordinate or color notation is for accurate color communication in the jewelry industry.
Apparatus And Method For Color Measurement And Color Grading Of Diamonds, Gemstones And The Like
The present invention discloses an apparatus that comprises a spectrometer, and computer and a dual integrating sphere measurement arrangement comprising a measurement integrating sphere, a sample integrating sphere, a sample platform, a filter, a lens system, a baffle and a light source. The sample integrating sphere encloses a sample to provide a constant environment for simulating the visual color grading environment. The computer controls the spectrometer and provides measurement parameters calculated from physical parameters of the measured sample, including, but not limited to, shape, dimensions, refractive index, intensity of fluorescence and cut grade. The computer then calculates spectral reflectance and colorimetric data, and determines an average color grade by checking a look-up-table that represents the relationship between the CIELAB coordinate and the average color grade. The computer also determines a true color grade based upon the average color grade and the physical parameters, using mathematical analytic algorithms.

Abstract:
One or more classification algorithms are applied to at least one natural language document in order to extract both attributes and values of a given product. Supervised classification algorithms, semi-supervised classification algorithms, unsupervised classification algorithms or combinations of such classification algorithms may be employed for this purpose. The at least one natural language document may be obtained via a public communication network. Two or more attributes (or two or more values) thus identified may be merged to form one or more attribute phrases or value phrases. Once attributes and values have been extracted in this manner, association or linking operations may be performed to establish attribute-value pairs that are descriptive of the product. In a presently preferred embodiment, an (unsupervised) algorithm is used to generate seed attributes and values which can then support a supervised or semi-supervised classification algorithm.
