  • US Patent:
    8051026, Nov 1, 2011
  • Filed:
    Nov 30, 2007
  • Appl. No.:
    11/948119
  • Inventors:
Yefim Zhuk - Englewood CO, US
  • Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    G06F 17/00
    G06N 5/02
  • US Classification:
    706 47
  • Abstract:
A rules collector system and method. The system and method enables a process of capturing an expertise of an individual in a formalized manner, and which may update rules and knowledge databases with information based on the interaction with the individual. The system includes a rules retrieval coordinator responsive to an input from an individual and adapted to provide relevant information to the individual based on the input and to enable a bidirectional information exchange with the individual. A rules input processor is used for monitoring responses from the individual and generating one of a plurality of different outputs depending on the responses. A rules generator is responsive to the rules input processor and is used to form one or more new rules based on the responses from the individual. A rule integrity check subsystem automatically checks integrity of the new rule based on pre-existing rules.
  • Knowledge-Driven Architecture

  • US Patent:
    20050149558, Jul 7, 2005
  • Filed:
    May 6, 2004
  • Appl. No.:
    10/709460
  • Inventors:
Yefim Zhuk - Englewood CO, US
  • International Classification:
    G06F007/00
  • US Classification:
    707104100
  • Abstract:
A system and method for building software applications. The system includes a knowledgebase, an application scenario player, a service connector, presentation components, and underlying system component-services. The method speeds up software system development and provides a greater flexibility to system behavior. Developers or subject matter experts can omit multiple steps of translating application requirements into traditional programs, and instead directly store business rules and application scenarios written in “almost natural” language in the knowledgebase. The application scenario player and the service connector transform application scenarios into interactions with the knowledgebase, presentation components, and underlying application services. Application scenarios and business requirements/rules stored in the knowledgebase represent the application layer, providing a clean separation from the system layer with its underlying service components that include application services. A business expert, a developer, or a partner program can change and introduce new business rules or scenarios at run-time, and can add, replace, or remove service components. The invention provides a better separation between generic service components and specific rules and scenarios that distinguish the application. Services in knowledge-driven architecture are coded as integration-ready components and can be moved down to the system level along with the database and operating system. Business rules and scenarios that represent a very light application layer can be created and changed at run-time by business experts, who would have their chance to influence application behavior, and to say not only “what” should be done, but also “how”. The main component of the application is a knowledgebase that stores application requirements as application scenarios and business rules. The Application Scenario Player and the Service Connector transform application scenarios into interactions with the knowledgebase, presentation components, and underlying application services.

  • US Patent:
    20090187444, Jul 23, 2009
  • Filed:
    Mar 11, 2008
  • Appl. No.:
    12/075290
  • Inventors:
Yefim Zhuk - Englewood CO, US
  • International Classification:
    G06Q 30/00
    G06F 3/00
  • US Classification:
    705 7, 715751, 705 1
  • Abstract:
The Service Knowledge Map or Service Knowledge Bus will help developers and subject matter experts (SME) describe, find, assemble, and execute software services. The main difference between this system and similar purpose systems is the target audience and related methods of communications. While similar systems target computer programs that can read and understand XML messages to connect web services, this system operates with natural language, providing mapping between service descriptions and implementations, and allows computerized systems and multiple audiences of SME for conversational flexibility while describing and assembling new services on-the-fly as well as creating sophisticated policy for service usage.

    713176, 726 3, 726 6, 726 23
  • Abstract:
A method of providing collaborative security and collaborative decision making in a service-oriented environment. The method includes validating request(s) by application(s) for service(s) in the environment, and providing each service for which an application request is validated. The method also includes monitoring a situational state exposed by services being provided in the environment. Based on the monitored state, the validating of one or more service requests is influenced.

  • US Patent:
    20190163738, May 30, 2019
  • Filed:
    Nov 24, 2017
  • Appl. No.:
    15/822090
  • Inventors:
Yefim Zhuk - Englewood CO, US
  • International Classification:
    G06F 17/27
    G06F 17/28
    G06F 17/30
  • Abstract:
Traditionally, development and manufacturing engages multiple team into multiple step processes. The idea is usually initiated by a subject matter expert (SME), then more details are added by business analysts and developers who translate the idea into technology. In each step of translation, such as system architecture, computer code development, or detailing parts for a new transportation mechanism, the next level of details is added by next level teams, who extensively interact with computers searching for relevant information. This work is often supported by business process modeling systems. The invention accelerates development and manufacturing processes by including conversational semantic support systems (CSSS) as active participants and partners of a SME in the process.CSSS includes a conversational initiator with a set of initial scripts to prompt a SME to expand the initial idea with more details.CSSS receives an initial request from a SME, provides a semantic mapping from business goals to existing business tasks, scripted rules and scenarios, automatically moving to the next step of details, when available. The interesting things start when data is not available. At this point the system initiates a set of conversations with other CSSS available on the net and closely related to the subject matter. If data are not found, a program initiates a search over public and private data sources, over the Internet and available Data Clouds. The last resort is a conversation with a set of SME connected to the net. Retrieved and approved by a SME data is semantically classified and registered while constantly increasing the knowledge of a system and its efficiency.Development factory includes modeling and manufacturing facilities with 3-D printers and material-feeders controlled by the system with conversational semantic support providing accelerated process for developing products and services for medical, military and transportation applications.
