Image Analyzing Method For Detecting Significant Changes In A Time Sequence Of Images

ABB Inc. - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
G06K009/62
US Classification:
382228, 382141, 707 6, 348 86, 700110
Abstract:
An image analysis method designed to identify images in a sequence of images that are statistically different in a pre-selected region of interest. The method is suitable when there is no a priori knowledge of the nature of the interesting images. A reference image is used to identify specific regions of the image that may contain interesting changes (Detect Zone), that will not have interesting changes, but can be used to assess image quality (Veto zone), and an unanalyzed region (Ignore zone). To improve the spatial sensitivity, the Detect and Veto zones can be divided into specific cells. The analysis may also be performed on compressed data and another method automatically classifies a cell as either in the Detect zone or Ignore zone. The sensitivity can be further improved by removing periodic feature variation prior to the statistics calculation.
Unified System And Method For Animal Behavior Characterization In Home Cages Using Video Analysis

Abstract:
In general, the present invention is directed to systems and methods for finding the position and shape of an animal using video. The invention includes a system with a video camera coupled to a computer in which the computer is configured to automatically provide animal segmentation and identification, animal motion tracking (for moving animals), animal-posture classification, and behavior identification. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention may use background subtraction for animal identification and tracking, and a combination of decision tree classification and rule-based classification for posture and behavior identification. Thus, the present invention is capable of automatically monitoring a video image to identify, track and classify the actions of various animals and the animal's movements within the image. The image may be provided in real time or from storage. The invention is particularly useful for monitoring and classifying animal behavior for testing drugs and genetic mutations, but may be used in any of a number of other surveillance applications.

Abstract:
Novel thermoset epoxy polymers using the bisglycidyl ethers of anhydrosugars, such as isosorbide, isomannide, and isoidide, are disclosed. The bisglycidyl ethers are useful as substitutes for bisphenol A in the manufacture of thermoset epoxy ethers. The anhydrosugars are derived from renewable sources and the bisglycidyl ethers are not xenoestrogenic and the thermoset curing agents are likewise derived form renewable resources.
Closed-Loop Control Of Cardioprotective Pre-Excitation Pacing

US Classification:

Abstract:
Cardioprotective pre-excitation pacing may be applied to stress or de-stress a particular myocardial region delivering of pacing pulses in a manner that causes a dyssynchronous contraction. Such dyssynchronous contractions are responsible for the desired cardioprotective effects of pre-excitation pacing but may also be hazardous. Described herein is a method and system that uses measures of ventricular dyssynchrony or a patient's physiological response to ventricular dyssynchrony to control the delivery of cardioprotective pre-excitation pacing in closed-loop fashion.

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
A method mediated with in-vitro transcription (“IVT”) which permits miniaturization of multiplexed DNA and RNA analysis, and in which elongation-mediated multiplexed analysis of polymorphisms (eMAP) is used as the analysis step, is described. Also described is a method mediated with IVT is for selecting a designated strand from T7-tagged double stranded DNA: wherein, the selected strand forms the template for RNA synthesis. In one embodiment, double stranded DNA incorporating the T7 (or other) promoter sequence at the 3′ end or the 5′ end is produced, for example, by amplification of genomic DNA using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Also disclosed are nested PCR designs permitting allele analysis in combination with strand selection by IVT. Further, in one embodiment of a homogeneous format for transcription-mediated amplification and multiplexed detection (which may be particularly suited for viral or pathogen detection), encoded microparticles display “looped” capture probe configurations permitting the generation of a signal upon capture of RNA product and real-time assay monitoring.

International Classification:
A61B 8/14
US Classification:

Abstract:
A pacing system delivers cardiac protection pacing to protect the heart from injuries associated with ischemic events. The pacing system detects an ischemic event and, in response, initiates one or more cardiac protection pacing sequences each including alternative pacing and non-pacing periods. In one embodiment, the pacing system initiates cardiac protection pacing sequences including at least one postconditioning sequence to protect the heart from a detected ischemic event and a plurality prophylactic preconditioning sequences to protect the heart from probable future ischemic events.

Abstract:
In general, the present invention is directed to systems and methods for finding the gait parameters of an animal using video. The invention includes a system with a video camera coupled to a computer in which the computer is configured to automatically provide animal segmentation, foot identification, foot tracking, and gait parameter calculation. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention may use a treadmill apparatus with a transparent tread or belt for gait parameter calculation. A camera may be placed directly underneath the transparent tread such that the bottom view of the animal walking or running on the transparent tread is captured by the camera. A tilted mirror may also be placed directly underneath the transparent tread in order to reflect the bottom view images to the side where they are captured by a high-speed camera. Thus, the present invention is capable of automatically monitoring a video image to identify, track and classify the actions of various animals' feet within the image. The image may be provided in real time or from storage.
