Abstract:

The present invention relates to compositions and methods for enhancing the oncolytic activity of replication-competent, target cell-specific adenovirus vectors by modification of the E1A gene product. The target cell-specific replication-competent adenovirus vectors comprise a chimera of an adenovirus gene essential for replication, preferably an early gene, and the Androgen receptor (or a portion thereof) under the transcriptional control of a cell type-specific transcriptional regulatory element (TRE). By providing for cell type-specific transcription through the use of one or more cell type-specific TREs, the adenovirus vectors effect prostate-specific cytotoxicity due to selective replication.

Abstract:

A system and method for producing an oligonucleotide having a high affinity for extracellular or cell surface markers on a target cell. The resultant oligonucleotide probe can be used to detect a target biomolecule, in particular a cancer cell or infectious agent such as a bacterium, virus, or fungus, comprising an aptamer having a high affinity for the biomolecule, wherein at least one labeled dye is attached to the aptamer. The labeled dye causes the aptamer to emit a baseline, non-visible emission. When the aptamer (also referred to herein as a probe) of the invention interacts with a target biomolecule, the fluorescence emission changes from the baseline emission to an emission that is visually detectable.

Abstract:

An method and apparatus for measuring gravitational force are described where at least one first radiation can be provided to at least one optomechanical oscillator, the at least one optomechanical oscillator being structured to deform under the gravitational force to cause a shift in resonance associated with the at least one optomechanical oscillator. In addition, at least one second radiation is received from the at least one optomechanical oscillator, wherein the at least one second radiation is associated with the shift in the resonance, and the shift in the resonance can be determined based on the first and second radiations.
