Modeling The Transient Behavior Of Bha/Drill String While Drilling
Jahir Pabon - Wellesley MA, US Nathan Wicks - Somerville MA, US Yong Chang - Missouri City TX, US Clinton Chapman - Missouri City TX, US Vivek Singh - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Schlumberger Technology Corp. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06G 7/48
US Classification:
703 10
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program product for performing a drilling operation for an oil field, the oil field having a subterranean formation with geological structures and reservoirs therein. The method involves creating a finite-difference model to simulate behavior of a drilling assembly used to drill a wellbore in the drilling operation, performing a simulation of the drilling operation using the finite-difference model, analyzing a result of the simulation, and selectively modifying the drilling operation based on the analysis.
Modeling Vibration Effects Introduced By Mud Motor
Jahir A. Pabon - Newton MA, US Yong Chang - Missouri City TX, US Nathaniel Wicks - Somerville MA, US Richard Harmer - Cheam, GB Yingyu Fang - Moorhead MN, US Xiaoyan Shi - Beijing, CN
Assignee:
Schlumberger Technology Corporation - Sugar Land TX
International Classification:
G06F 9/455
US Classification:
703 10, 703 7
Abstract:
Torsional, axial and lateral vibrations introduced when a mud motor is used with a drilling tool to drill a borehole are calculated using a model. The model includes different computational modules for each of three distinct motor sections: power, transmission and bearing. The resulting calculated vibration effects are used to enhance the drilling tool and drilling operation.
Technique For Establishing Predictive Reach Through A Deviated Well
Jahir Pabon - Newton MA, US Yong Chang - Missouri City TX, US Shunfeng Zheng - Katy TX, US
Assignee:
Schlumberger Technology Corporation - Sugar Land TX
International Classification:
G06F 17/50
US Classification:
703 10
Abstract:
A method of estimating extended reach for a downhole line traversing a deviated section of a well. The method may include storing line and well architectural and physical data and then performing a static analysis of substantially axial-exclusive estimated friction between the line and well wall during conveyance (which may be thought of as the contact force due to interference therebetween). A one dimensional dynamic analysis may then be performed. Thus, based on these factors, speed of the conveyance, vibration parameters of an incorporated vibration tool, etc., an efficient simulation of the conveyance may be run.
