Abstract:

A system and method for wirelessly communicating using beamswitching is provided. A communications system includes a high-power signal cable coupled to a signal amplifier, a radio frequency circuit coupled to the high-power signal cable, and a control unit coupled to the radio frequency circuit. The high-power signal cable conveys a transmission signal produced by the signal amplifier. The radio frequency circuit includes a plurality of antennas, a passive network having a plurality of output ports and a plurality of input ports, each output port coupled to an antenna of the plurality of antennas, and a plurality of switches coupled to the high-power signal cable, each switch coupled to an input port in the plurality of input ports. The control unit produces the control signal based on a specified coupling of the high-power signal cable to the passive network.

Abstract:

A system and method for enhanced parallel receiving interworking in a wireless communications network. A method for controller operation where the controller serves a communications device having at least two receivers includes detecting that the communications device has at least one receiver tuned to a current radio access technology (RAT) and at least one receiver tuned to an alternate RAT, adjusting a network parameter to alter the communication network's performance, and readjusting the network parameter back to its original value in response to determining that the communications device no longer has any receiver tuned to the alternate RAT. The adjusted network parameter impacts only the communications device.

System and method for unsynchronized cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radio nodes. A method comprises receiving spectrum sensing information from a plurality of communications nodes, computing for each communications node in the plurality of communications nodes, a likelihood ratio based on spectrum sensing information provided by the communications node, combining the likelihood ratios, and computing a decision value based on the combined likelihood ratio. Each communications node determines its respective spectrum sensing information at a time unrelated to times when other communications nodes determine their spectrum sensing information.

A method for coordinating beam forming between two communicating entities includes obtaining cell loading information and adjusting a number of used beam-sets at a specific scheduling time according to the cell loading information. The method further includes transmitting a common pilot that is not beam-formed together with feed-forward information according to the cell loading. System and method for scheduling spectrum sensing in cognitive radio systems. A method comprises sensing an availability of a spectrum band, computing a duration of an inter-sensing time block based on the availability of the spectrum band, and scheduling an occurrence of the spectrum sensing operation using the duration of the inter-sensing time block. A system and method for multi-stage zero forcing beamforming in a wireless communications system is provided. A method includes receiving feedback information from each mobile station (MS) in a first plurality of mobile stations (MSs), selecting a first MS from the first plurality of MSs, and broadcasting information related to the first MS to the first plurality of MSs. A system and method for adaptively controlling feedback information according to a loading condition of a communications cell is provided. A method comprises receiving an indication from a base station, computing an amount of feedback information to transmit back to the base station using the indication, locating a feedback resource assigned to the mobile station using the amount of feedback information and an identity of the mobile station, computing a feedback information, and transmitting the feedback information using the located feedback resource. The indication is for a set of candidate transmission formats that is based on loading conditions in the cell.
