Abstract:

A tire pressure monitor method enables the reassignment of tire pressure sensors to respective tire locations on the vehicle in the event that the sensors are lost or replaced with new sensors having differing identification codes. A passenger compartment monitors, that normally monitor tire pressures through broadcast transmission from the sensors, is manually put into an identification entry mode selecting a desired tire location, and when the vehicle begins travel, a motion switch in the new sensor detects vehicular motion and activates the transmission of the new identification code that is received by the monitor that then assigns the presently selected tire location to received identification code.

Abstract:

A wireless vehicle safety monitoring system, including a portable monitor unit and a plurality of sensor modules that can monitor vehicle tire pressure, detect presence of object and its distance behind the vehicle, and monitor the security of the vehicle. The sensor modules communicate by encoded RF wireless transmission with the monitor unit, which will display the individual tire pressure on its LCD panel while the vehicle is moving, and also display any detected object range information during the vehicle reverse motion. When one or more monitoring situations arise (bad tire pressure, object detection, or vehicle security violation), the monitor unit will issue warnings to alert the vehicle owner. The wireless pressure sensor module is miniaturized for easy mounting on the tire valve stem with minimal obstruction. The wireless ultrasonic object detection sensor module is mounted on the rear license plate holder.

Abstract:

Abstract:

A wireless dual tire pressure monitor and equalizer apparatus is adapted to install on a vehicle dual wheel and connect to the two tire valve stems. The apparatus includes capabilities of monitoring individual tire pressure and transmitting tire data to be received by a remote receiver, equalizing pressure in the two tires when pressure is above a selected level, isolating the two tires when pressure is below the selected level, and transmitting warning signals upon detection of low pressure and air leaks. An finally mountable intelligent tire pressure management system (iTPMS) capable of real-time tire pressure monitoring, vehicle load detection, and automatic tire inflation and deflation for maintaining optimal tire pressure in a commercial vehicle. Additional functions include counting tire rotations for calculating and recording distance travelled for each tire, and detecting wheel sliding due to locked-up tires. The system includes a chassis-mounted control box connecting to the vehicle air supply, an external hubcap cover-mounted dual wheel valve apparatus integrated with a rotary union assembly that connects through the external bracket mounting structure holding the air tubes to the control box. The inflation/deflation supporting dual wheel valve apparatus has an embedded electronic unit that monitors individual tire pressure and temperature in real time, and communicates with the control box over the power and data line. Furthermore an external vehicle weight sensor interfacing with the control box provides the system with the current vehicle load information. With readily available real time tire pressure data and current vehicle load information, this system can intelligently adjusts tire pressure to the desired level when necessary and, as a result, prolongs tire life, improves fuel economy, reduces the vehicle maintenance costs, and promptly alerts the driver of low, leaky or flat tire conditions for enabling the driver to take immediate corrective actions.
