An apparatus and method, in a telecommunications network having a first and a second system, for activating and deactivating call forwarding from a dual mode subscriber stations number in the second system to the subscriber stations number in the first system. A first message is transmitted upon initiation of communication between the subscriber station and the first system. If it is determined that a data field in the first message is in the first state, call forwarding from the subscriber number of the second system to the subscriber number of the first system is activated. If the data field is in a second state, call forwarding from the subscriber number of the second system to the subscriber number of the first system is not activated. An indication of at least one type of selected subsequent event, upon which the user of the subscriber station desires to deactivate the call forwarding may also be included in the first message. If the selected event occurs, the call forwarding will be deactivated.
System, Mobile Station And Method For Delivering Services
A system, mobile station and method are provided for delivering services such as voice messages, voice clips, video clips and/or multimedia clips. The system includes a network entity, such as a calling entity, a Base Station/MSC/Interworking function (BMI) or any portions thereof. In addition, the system includes a mobile station. The network entity is capable of initiating a call to the mobile station by transmitting an alert message over a traffic channel. The mobile station can receive the alert message, and thereafter transmit a connect message over the traffic channel in response to the alert message. Advantageously, the mobile station is capable of transmitting the connect message without the call initiated by the network entity first being answered. The network entity can then establish a communication link with the mobile station over the traffic channel such that the service can be delivered to the mobile station over the communication link.

A system for providing broadcast content includes at least one content source for broadcasting content, and at least one terminal. The terminal can receive and consume content for a selected channel x, which is one in a set of ordered channels of broadcast content. The terminal can also change channels from the selected channel x to an adjacent channel x1 in the set of n ordered channels. In response to changing channels to the adjacent channel x1, the terminal can receive and consume content for the adjacent channel x1. The terminal can receive and store content for Y next adjacent channels (x1)y, y=1,. . . , Y in buffer memory. Content for the next adjacent channels is stored based upon the direction the channel is changed and in response to changing channels.
Mobile Station And Method For Transmitting And Receiving Messages
Mobile stations and methods are provided for transmitting and/or receiving messages. The mobile station includes a controller capable of operating a phoneme engine, which is capable of receiving a message comprising input speech. Thereafter, the phoneme engine can convert the input speech into at least one phoneme representative of the input speech. The mobile station also includes a transmitter capable of transmitting a representation of the input speech, where the representation is based upon the phonemes. The mobile station may include a receiver capable of receiving a representation of a speech-based message, where the representation is based upon at least one phoneme. The mobile station also includes the controller capable of operating a phoneme engine, which in such instances, is capable of converting the phonemes into the speech-based message. The mobile station in such instances also includes a speaker capable of thereafter outputting the speech-based message.
Exchange Of System And Terminal Capabilities Over The Same Analog Control Channel
A method for exchanging protocol support information between a base station and a mobile station over an analog control channel. The method includes a first step of transmitting from a base station information specifying at least one protocol supported by the base station over a first analog control channel. A next step includes receiving the information transmitted by the base station at a mobile station. In response to receiving this information, a next step is performed of transmitting information which specifies at least one protocol supported by the mobile station, from the mobile station to the base station, over a second analog control channel.
