Abstract:

By utilizing scene metrics in an image processing system (such as night vision goggles or a camera), a setpoint controller can set a setpoint used by a gain controller. Using the setpoint and an average video level of a frame, the gain controller can set gain control signals sent to an image sensor and/or a high voltage power supply to adaptively adjust for higher and lower light scenarios. Scene metrics can include an amount of saturation in a frame, a number or percentage of pixels above a first threshold and a number or percentage of pixels below a second threshold.

Abstract:

An assembly for wheels which are mountable on objects, such as in-line skates and wheel chairs, which have a frame for receiving the wheel. The assembly has an axle with an axle shaft having a non-circular configuration, which is non-rotationally mountable to the frame; an inner sleeve, having a non-circular orifice corresponding to the axle shaft non-circular configuration, into which the axle inserts; a uni-rotational member, such as a one-way clutch, into which the inner sleeve inserts, the uni-rotational member being non-rotationally insertable into the wheel; and a retaining member having rotational and thrust capabilities insertable on the inner sleeve inside and the wheel, whereby after the axle is inserted into the inner sleeve, the inner sleeve is inserted into the uni-rotational member, the uni-rotational member is inserted into the wheel, the retaining member is inserted over the inner sleeve into the wheel, and the axle is non-rotationally mounted to the frame, the wheel is capable of rotating in only one direction around the inner sleeve by way of the uni-rotational member contained within the wheel thereby preventing any unwanted movement in the opposite direction.

Abstract:

An alphameter provides an indication of the volume absorption coefficient d the small angle forward scattering coefficient to give an indication of underwater visibility. A laser beam is alternately pulsed through the surrounding water and a reference fluid which fills a telescoping chamber. A photodiode is illuminated by the alternating pulses and representative signals are fed to a feedback loop where a comparison is made with signals emanating from the laser. If the representative signals exceed or fall below the predetermined threshold range, a DC motor enlarges or lessens the interior volume of the telescoping chamber causing more or less of the reference fluid to be contained therein. When the representative signals fall within the predetermined threshold range the telescoping chamber is no longer displaced and a readout indicates what the transmissivity of the surrounding water is.
