Abstract:

A system consists of remote identification tag (in the form of wristband) for personnel who must undergo hand hygiene frequently during a day's work, programmed soap and rinse-free disinfectant dispensers, entry-exit sensors for controlled access areas and data transfer stations is used to monitor and record every handwashing procedure along with its thoroughness as well as every hand cleaning event with rinse-free disinfectant. The system will further prompt each worker's identification tag at an appropriate place to examine its record to see whether a hand hygiene procedure is required before proceeding to his/her next task. The recorded data with time-date of each event will be transferred to a central computer for statistical analysis and presentation as a daily and/or periodic hand hygiene compliance report on each staff, department, shift and the entire institution.

Abstract:

A patient care monitoring system and method employ active RFID devices integrated with digital processing, memory and timing circuitry for patient identification, care giver identification and for identification of each prescribed treatment, procedure, medication and general and/or special care action. At the point-of-care, each care action identity device will match directly with the targeted patient identity device or issue an error warning to prevent mistakes. The patient identity device will also interact with an associated sensor network to proactively prompt care givers to provide general care actions, such as altering a patient's laying position, changing bed pan/clothing/bed sheet, etc. for invalid patients. Also the patient identity tag will furnish periodic records of every care action, mistakes, remedies, care givers' identities and time and date for a central processor of a healthcare facility to monitor the quality of patient care. Such record can also be potentially accessed via the Internet by the responsible regulatory agencies, accreditation associations, insurance firms and even patients' families to ensure patient care is meeting the standards as well as medical billing accuracy.

A medical emergency reporting system and methodology that utilize a wearable monitoring device to continuously monitor key physiological parameters of a person, and when measurements exceed programmed threshold levels, it will automatically issue a medical emergency alert along with location information to a remote monitoring center via a wireless network and the Internet for immediate local response. The sun imparts 174 petawatt per second on the earth, and a large portion of this energy is absorbed by the earth's atmosphere in the form of translational energy for the gaseous molecules, i.e. continuous random motion in the average speed range of 500 meters per second on earth's surface. This invention utilizes a partition with large number of through-holes which all have the characteristic of providing greater cross section for gas molecules to transit from one side to the other than the reverse, thus creating a higher statistical probability for the molecules to move from one side of the partition to the other side. By stacking a number of such partitions to emphasize the direction of movement probability of the gas molecules within a container having two open ends, the number of gas molecules at the end of the stack will be more numerous than at the head, creates a pressure differential, and this can be used to push against the stacks of the partition to provide thrust on the container or to drive a turbine to generate electricity or to perform wide variety of works that are done with internal combustion engine. This invention can use solar energy without photovoltaic conversion or large solar farm to concentrate solar radiation, and it replaces all fossil fuels as the current principle energy source, drastically reducing fossil burning and pollutant generation as well as being a critical means by which to arrest global warming trends.

Abstract:

A high-speed out-of-band signalling technique for transferring information such as station status information between stations in a communication network, typically a local-area network, involves sequentially generating a plurality of n-bit sequence segments, where n is at least 3. Each bit is either a first binary value or a second binary value. Each sequence segment is coded with one of a plurality of different n-bit code groups divided into a first code group and a set of second code groups. The n bits in the first code group are all the first binary value--e. g. , all "1s". None of the second code groups contain a pair of non-contiguous bits of the second binary value--e. g. , none of the second code groups contains two "0s" separated by at least one other bit. The sequence segments are outputted in the order that they were generated to produce a special bit sequence which carries the desired information. The station status information typically includes configuration capability, flow control parameters, and integrity control parameters.
